Yeah, we're in. I know the losses are frustrating, but we finished with a 22-9 overall record. I'm not too spoiled to be happy with that. We'll be a force in the SECT, and will get the the NCAAs w/a chance to win a few. I'm pleased with this season so far, and they finished it on a great note!
I'm still trying to figure out WTF was going through Darcy's mind. He's a big dude and he had no one between him and the basket. Why settle for a dunk when I can force my teammate to shoot a low percentage three! Baffling. I thought the use of the bench really helped. We weren't exhausted and worn down by the end of the game as we were in so many others. Perhaps the bad back has been bothering Mickey for a while and that explains his sluggish play at times. Not sure. It would make sense, though. Patterson's threes were lethal and tremendous. Hornsby is just a gamer. Love his effort. Glad he redeemed himself from that flagrant free throw line debacle. Martin was awesome and exciting as usual.. big ups to Epps and Bridgewater. Quarterman is really fun to watch. Gray also finally found his role -- break down the press and push the tempo.
I was surprised to see JM w/ 27 points. He was just steady the whole game. Didn't think he scored that much, but that's great to see.
LSUs not the only Sybil out there. Today's Sybil's: Utah, Kansas, Wichita St, TxA&M (LSUs record is better, by the way, yet A&M is ranked). Earlier this week: SMU, Baylor (lost to UT, then barely beat TTU), UConn (beat ranked SMU, then lost 2 other games). Point being that the parity in college basketball makes it difficult for teams to be on the top of their game night after night. No doubt, LSU has been inconsistent. I think they should have won at least 3 or 4 more games (should have beat AUB, Tenn at home, and split w/A&M; almost beat UK), but I'll take 22-9. Let's hope they can put it together tournament time. Seems like they play better when more is on the line.
Josh gray won that game. ZZZZZZZZEEEEEEEERRRRRRROOOOOO turnovers with plenty pt. if gettin Mickey back doesn't screw up the chemistry, this team can do good things. They won on the road, with home cooking calls, poor ft shooting and little post D (props to jm on the last play, though). Those things can all be different in the NCAA tourn. Dmalone looked bad but is getting better. Cjj should have been using a deeper bench all season. Having 4 guards was key. Q stunk it up on O (did a solid job on qualms though) and they were tight on Bruce all game---gray and Patterson stepping up was the difference (the last ff team didn't have that). Btw they are in even with another L to mizz. They should get to the finals or lose the first sect game to keep out of the bad 7-9 seeds.
