Agree with you and Tirk. TQ was moving to better shots for sure, but he worries me sometimes. Can't put my finger on it, but something keeps me from being over-impressed with him, but last night, esp. late in the game, I too thought he was playing the best. Gray needs to keep his head up, create and dish, or create and shoot. That guy is talented. Coaching wasn't great at the end last night, but CJJ is still feeling out the particular players on this particular team. He knows Martin, and Mickey well, but the other guys he's still getting a feel for, too. Sometimes, the most important lessons learned by the players are the ones they go through in a loss. We'll see.
The Tigers played a weak pre-SEC schedule and it's showing. This team avg about 18 TO a game against cupcakes and often let them stay in the game far too long. If this squad, with this talent, misses the dance then the season is a fail.
nola.com reporting that former St. Aug star Craig Victor is leaving Arizona and transferring to LSU; will be eligible in the fall.
Still, its disappointing to play like shit against a beatable Missouri, even if it was on the road. They needed to make a statement in the SEC opener. I think they need to go 12-6 or at least 11-7 in the SEC to get into the Big Dance. After last night it looks more like a win at home-lose on the road 9-9 and back to the NIT. I wish Johnny Jones was as good of a game coach as he is a recruiter.
Just heard that. More positive movement with the basketball program. Now, I don't know what Victor will bring, but anyone who is getting offered by Arizona should at the very least be able to provide some depth.
Patterson hit 2 or 3 3 pointers in the first half last night. Maybe someone missed that. He certainly lost his touch at halftime. I agree on the ball movement back and forth, they need to learn to move around more and set up better screens. As good as Mickey and Martin are they don't have Shaq in the middle to where you can just past the ball around or in the post and out and someone will be open. Btw I think Patterson has made a few more 3's or played better against Charleston or some of the other games. This team has impressed me BUT admittedly it has usually been against less competitive teams. I still think it says a lot that they can have bad games and stay in the game. Find a way to send it to OT and even won the game against Houston. I'm optimistic, its been a long time since I have been optimistic about LSU basketball. Even if he can land the recruits he does at best that is better than LSU has done in a number of years.
Going to overtime with Georgia. Tigers led by 8 with 4 mins and change and let it slip away. Lead the entire second half until the last second basket by Georgia tied it up.
Great resilience to pull out the win, but damn, this team does find ways to shoot itself in the foot, doesn't it?
