Gumborue jogged my memory, the perfect example about Mickey is when House shot the ball in the final seconds of the first half. It was rebounded and put in by a Texas ATM player to end the half! Mickey should have gotten that ball or at least blocked that shot! Well they did sit Mickey and Martin down the first half, I was amazed at how well the team did play without either one in the game. I think I understood why he sat Martin down the second half but if it was just me, I would have put him in the game sooner. Called a timeout during that run the second half. How many point in a row did they score? 13?
This team reminds me a lot of the Pelicans.. you start to believe and they play some phenomenal basketball, and then they lose in a startling and quite frankly embarrassing way to a team they should have beaten. Nothing against aTm, but if Mickey does anything this game we win it easily. Not sure what happened there. He's played better AND not gotten rest from Bridgewater plenty of times so it doesn't seem like it would be fatigue. Jekyl and Hyde type teams are hard to love because you know they're gonna break your heart often in the worst way.
The thing that gets me is... "All LSU needs to do is take care of bidness." That is my major concern, the inconsistency. And sure, LSU could make a run in whatever tournament they end up in (maybe I'm wrong to think even the NIT isn't a sure bet), but they could just as easily bottom out immediately. If we make NCAAs, that's a step FW; I'll be content with that. If we make the NIT, if we make a run better than last year, I'll be content with that. Equaling last year will be a disappointment, not going to postseason will be suck.
On the bright side, we have a good opportunity to make NCAAs, and the talent to make a run once we get there. That would be HUGE for cjj and our basketball program, especially w the talent coming in next year.
Unfortunately we've settled back into what we've seen too much of. Standing around and piss poor shooting. Tigers up 22 - 16.
