he plays really good d. mickey needs to become way more aggressive to last significant time in the nba. hes way too passive for my liking despite the blocked shots. teams need the fear of god when entering the paint. s carolina sorta just made their home there like many smaller teams.
seems like a tweener though. doubt he has the lateral quickness to stay with nba 3s or beef and height to handle 4s. and he needs to rebound better.
i hate when people say 'he aint ready' whether nfl or nba because it only matters if youre going to be drafted high. but he really aint ready and im with you. i dont think his game translates to the next level.
Quarterman will be around until he graduates and imo his game will translate the best to the NBA. You would think that guys like Martin and Mickey would learn from watching someone like JOBIII, but they never seem to. Who knows maybe they will surprise us and stick around....would love it if they did.
that seems to be the prevailing thought but I think most people thought the same of Jarrell Martin. I hope he is good enough to be a true one and done but we'll have to see.
i think mickey has a better chance than martin. martin needs too much work. mickey's stroke doesn't look too bad. if he can get consistent from 15-18.
If I had to take one of them in a draft today, I would take Mickey. As you said, he has the better stroke and can hit out to probably 18-19 feet with some consistency. To be a starter the league he will have to improve. Mickey also has that enormous reach and can protect the rim as well as anybody. That said, the competition in the league is a little tougher around the basket than what he is playing against now.....just ask Tyrus Thomas. All in all, I think both of them could use another year to season.
Man, we can't buy a basket early on here... At least we're drawing a lot of fouls. We should get to shoot a lot of free throws in the first half.
