The fans are about as enamored with Mr. Brady as are the elite players in the nation (and some would say state). Basketball which centers on tough defense and rebounding... at the expense of exciting offense... simply isn't fun to watch. Not to mention that this town has quickly grown weary of his well-publicized rifts with players.
An interesting anecdote that I read on the other board is that Brady, while at Samford, ran an exciting motion offense which allowed him to come into the Pmac and beat LSU. What's happened to that?

brady himself has nothing to do with fan support. i guess there's probably a handful of weirdos that go (or dont go) to a game because of the coach, but the rest go to see the team. daddy wasnt packing em in the last few yrs
i agree with you about the defensive style effecting interest. im not sure why he emphasizes it. i think its the easiest way to put a decent team on the court. perhaps he was forced to during the many sanction years and hasnt gotten out of the habit? i think its because of the players that he has gotten===not necessarily by choice. his great players: stro, lloreda, dupree, bass, davis, thomas all post players (maybe you could put dmitch in there, but thats still just one). most of these players fell into his lap: davis, bass, thomas (because of locale), dupree developed more than any thought. he got lloreda because he needed somebody down low (remember back then there was only bridgewater). no one would pass on stro. some of these player could run the floor, but id say only stro, dupree and thomas did it well. each of those players were essentially there one year too, and in the one year of two of these three running post players we saw great teams.
i honestly think, he isnt against an uptempo style, and that the style of his teams is somewhat dictated by their talents. do you really think he wanted to convert koundja, minor and rolle to slowdown tempo halfcourt bball?
cjb's "problem" is how he has handled recruiting. id bet he'll right the ship, but its real tricky nowadays to manage teams well enough to not have periodic down years (see uconn, cuse, maryland, mich st, indiana, louisville, unc as recent examples).
anyway, what would you want to do? take a chance that another "brady" will be better than this brady. no way lsu is going to take a great established coach away from another program, so you gotta take a shot with an asst or smalltime coach. maybe skip could get few from zaga?

oh, what's that? theyre not very good this year? few has never been to ffour? scratch him off the list i guess. dont want him
