I'm sure people are disappointed due to last year being a downer after a national title, having another top-rated recruiting year, and being considered a top-10 team.

Even so most fans are still sticking with the team. We'll finish first in national attendance again this season and just set a record on Wednesday night at the Pontiff Classic. The fans may not have been as loud as usual but we still had a great time at Zephyr Field.

I'm not down on this team. I'm just confused and trying to figure out why we're not clicking. It "appears" everything is in place for a serious run but we just find ways to lose. We REALLY needed the bottom of the 8th inning against USM on Wednesday. Hopefully this will propel us to a series win against Vandy.

We can make a regional without reaching the SEC Tournament but need quality wins...and the more the better. The 9th place team in the SEC is still better than many of the 64 participants so let's hope a win streak, quality schedule, and history are on our side!

agree. i havent given up, but i sure am frustrated. we have had way too many 8th and 9th inning meltdowns. and you are right. hopefully battling and not giving away the game in the late innings wednesday will help their mental state.

I had no doubts about you sticking with the program!

I don't think our baseball fans are ready to bring back Smoke just yet. CPM will eventually figure out what needs to happen.

At least we beat Tulane and took 2 of 3 from Ole Miss. Those are almost as important as winning a title. :thumb:

If we can't win it all (I'm still hopeful) I wouldn't mind seeing Vandy take the title. UGA in '90 and South Carolina in '10 are the only two SEC champions outside of LSU's six. Another SEC team would be good and since Vandy will never sniff a title in football or basketball...baseball seems like a good choice.

Even so...I'm hoping for a LSU sweep this weekend! :tigbas:

I hope your not serious. I'd take 0-5 or whatever vs. Ole Miss and Tulane and a national title over 5-0 and any other finish every year with absolutely no second thoughts whatsoever. Winning the National Championship means EVERYTHING.

History remembers National champs, not OM and Tulane beaters. To the best of my knowledge, there are no trophies for beating either Tulane or Ole Miss.

I want to start a new thread for the Vandy series, but I get a fatal error when I try to start new threads.

    Anyway....

    Big series for LSU.

    Top 1st:

Watkins is looking a lot better since getting benched.

He leads off the game with a single, and advances to 2nd on an error.
Hanover bunts to the pitcher, who catches Watkins at 3rd.
Mahtook singles and Hanover advances to 3rd.
Rhymes pops out to RF, Hanover scores.
    Nola drew a walk.
    Dozar strikes out.

LSU takes an early 1-0 lead.

Vandy is simply tee-ing off of McCune.

    5-1 Vandy.

    Fly-out
    Single
    Walk
    HBP
    **Bases loaded**
    Single (1 RBI)
    Single (1 RBI)
    Single (1 RBI)
    Single (1 RBI)
    **Bases still loaded**
    Shallow pop fly.
    Walk. (1 RBI)
    Ground out to Nola.

5 runs on 5 hits for Vandy in the 1st. :dis:

This team can't seem to do anything right.

Well.... I don't think I'm going to PBP the entire game, because I doubt LSU can score more than 5 against Vandy.

I heard on the radio it's 8-3 Vandy now, but I have no idea what inning it is.
