then hollander's single bounces just above the pitcher's reach and just off the 2nd baseman's glove and close to the shortstops as well.

talk about good baseball fortune for a game much less a half inning.


and then the high and outside cheese for dean on an 1-0 count. thats good hitting there going to the opposite field. that guy is pretty special in critical moments.

also the left fielder was caught in between. he should have went for the catch or played the carom. he did neither and the ball shot back like a slingshot. manny could teach him a few things.

 

Hell Mitchell was running like there were two outs anyway. He woulda tied it up.

I also forgot the plunk of ochinko on the 0-2 count that got mcghee in the game as a pinch runner.

Watching the reply, I had thought that someone as fast and athletic as Mitchell or Landry could have gotten to the ball and made the play....

 

ok i'm not reading through 28 pages and i couldn't find anything with the search so here goes:


i just watched the replay and what was the deal with rice's catcher after the gibbs play??

he looked like he wanted to come back and swing on someone but he was the one with attitude not micah?

it was obvious grady went to calm him down. and espn was oblivious saying that grady was checking to see if he was ok. i've never yelled at anyone angrily to see if they are ok, grady was obviously yelling at his catcher to keep his composure.

what did i miss exactly???

btw, i bet his tears at the end of the game tasted like liquid cotton candy.

 

In the heat of the play it was a hard nosed play, but I think the catcher thought that Gibbs went after his head with his forearm.

On the replay it looks like Gibbs swings his arm up right before contact and the catcher the game before had his jaw broke by a ball so maybe in his mind he thought Gibbs was trying to take him out.

 

Wasn't he also the one that got hit in the face with the pitch earlier in the regionals and wearing the facemask on his batting helmet? He may have gotten it stung and didn't like it. He can think about it for several months now.
