I beg to differ Red A few quotes from this thread.... Hotdog, What prevents the band from keeping the people and the players in the game when the team is getting pounded? The band is a wonderfull tool for elevating excitement to the next level, especially with the tigers fight song( i really like the way it starts, even fires ME up before the start of our annual matchup). It can not create excitement on it's own once a scary game has started to unfold. There comes a point when people get nervous or give up hope entirely, and at that point the band can do nothing. Team down 7-14 points with a quarter left, yeah...with 3 minutes left, no. I have been in tiger stadium, just as i have BD stadium, when things weren't going well for the home team and i just can't seem to remember there even being a band at those times. Much less hearing it. Maybe that makes me the oddball, dunno. Was I to understand that you are in the band?
Hey Tiger Fans, I am a member of the Tigerband this year and we are just as upset about this whole fiasco as you. But you have to understand that part of the 40,000 dollars goes to a number of seats that allow us to sit 50 people comfortably with their instruments ie. about 75 to 80 seats, at this point we wouldnt be able to get the tickets to do it. We also desperately need the new uniforms for next year. The ones we are in are falling apart and don't fit us. There are different size people in the band then there were ten years ago. I know you are upset and so are we, but we are still going to be cheering our tigers on and probably singing the songs to ourselves. Skip needs our support at this time, not a bunch of mad fans over a game that in the grand scheme of things isnt all that important. Thankyou Tiger Fans for all your concern a love of the Tigerband!
Re: I beg to differ Red So that's how you feel. It doesn't mean we want to hear it. Just because Bama has some piece of crap band that can't fire up the local rednecks doesn't mean all venues are that way. The Golden Band is a HUGE part of the gameday experience. A game wouldn't be the same without them regardless of the outcome. So take your stupid comments over to a Bama board where they may or may not give a s**t. Damn I'm in a bad mood tonight. When the band cranks up the "pre-game" Hold That Tiger between the 3rd and 4th quarter, the game can change... I seriously think that the band had something to do with the Ole Miss win last year.
I hope our band can play better defense than the Stanford band did at the end of that famous game in the 80's when a California player returning the kickoff ran over the Stanford tuba player. It was John Elway's last college game.
