I think, if LaRon is smart, and i think he is, that he will come back next year... the secondary will be much improved at cb, losing only Prude and having alot of experienced guys coming back... An improved secondary mean more chances for LaRon to shine... If staying a year can move him up in the draft from last first to middle or under 16th, that makes a huuuuuuggggeee difference in the contract length and signing bonus he can get...

I too doubt we will break the record. If we do we will have 8 guys drafted in the 7th round.

    I see this happening though

    In this order rounds 1-3

    Addai
    Whitworth
    Landry
    Wroten
    Williams

    4-7

    Oliver
    Green
    Livings
    Niswanger
    Vaughn
    Prude
Brazell (someone will take a chance on his speed)

    Free Agents Signings
    Kuale
    Jones

His position is not one that warrants a high draft pick. In the last few years, I can only remember a few top 15 safety picks (Sean Taylor, Roy Williams, Ed Reed etc). I'm not saying he wont go that high, I just think it is very unlikely. If he projects to be in the first 2 rounds of this years draft, I think he should go.

I could be wrong, but wasn't Harvey Williams our last running back drafted in the 1st round??

In any case, I really do not see Addai being anywhere near the first round. I WILL say he should be a sure-thing for a first day selection. But I'm thinking of somewhere between the 3rd and 4th rounds.

DD wasn't a #1 pick and neither was Toefield....

But also, if he stays one more season, he'd likely be the #1 safety next year. Right now, that kid from Texas (Huff I believe) is getting more pro publicity on the national level.

When does Simpson leave SC i think he is also a great safety. I also think Laron should wait one more year.

Is Shyrone Carey not going to get drafted. I could see late due to ability to return kicks and the scat back. I think if we did not have green, carey would have been very good in the kicking game. I think in the pros there is no limit to what they would spend on cleats.

    Carey won't get drafted, IMO.

    Carey will not get drafted.

Seriously, there are TONS of starting running backs at hundreds of colleges and universities that have just as much "scat-back" abilities as Shyrone that won't get drafted.

Look at Kevin Faulk! With ALL that he accomplished at LSU! and in the college game, he's no more than a 3rd-down back in the NFL--and has been simply that throughout his entire pro career. And he was light-years ahead of Shyrone Carey.

I like Carey. I applaud his efforts and he will be among my favorite Tigers due to what he's over-come in his career (being buried behind loads of talent every year here) yet stuck it out, works hard and will leave LSU with a degree. I also have a lot of respect for him due to his small stature, but I refuse to put LSU blinders on, and even remotely think that he will make it to the pros.

And if any of you believe Shyrone is such a big threat as a return man in the NFL, explain to me why he's not even holding that job with us? C'mon. LSU doesn't have two of the best return men in all of college AND half the pros....

Sometimes I feel that way.... :D :hihi:

I also believe you get more respect if you don't claim EVERYTHING your team's players do/are as God's gift to football.

Personally, I have a friend that thinks his Texas Longhorn players are all God's of the universe and are head-and-shoulders better than any other athlete at any other university and it makes me sick to my stomach.
