Funny how your memory plays tricks. I would have sworn the final score was 55 - 10. Either way it is also one of my top 5 games ever.

When that fog starting rolling down the seats in the Florida State section it was awesome.

It was, indeed, 55-21, but the beating the Tigers put on the 'Noles was worse than the final score indicated! I was there. The fog was incredible, and I've never seen so many oranges!

Reading your posts gave me goosebumps, just imagining Tiger Stadium on a cool fall evening and the band playing. I don't have season tickets and I live 3 hours away but I do have one brother that graduated from law school there and another that at the present time is a soph. so I try to make as many games as I can. And it is a genetic thing I took my son to an LSU game with my brother that graduated from law school and he has never been the same, if I am flipping through the TV and he even thinks he saw purple and gold he makes me stop. My 5 year old has a Michael Clayton jersey that he wears all the time and asks me when will he get to go to Tiger Stadium. I wish every day I would have went to school there.

My father was a 1949 LSU graduate (School of Forestry). My first game at Tiger Stadium was with him, circa 1965, at a reunion of his classmates. We sat on the top row of the South end zone and I will never forget the sight.

This will sound strange to some of the younger folks on this board, but that game represented the first time for me, age 9 at the time, to see LSU in "color." The weekly highlight TV show was in black & white. The football magazines were black and white. I knew LSU wore purple and "gold" but that was my first time to actually see it. It was a beautiful sight.

I took the "five year plan" in getting my degree from LSU in history. My son is a high school senior here in Virginia. As soon as he graduates, he's heading to New Orleans and perhaps eventually to LSU. I took him to the LSU-Virginia Tech game last year, his first LSU game. It was emotional for me, passing on to him that priceless thing that my father gave to me nearly 40 years ago.

I think you're right. My dad took me to my first LSU game and I have been forever hooked!

I just returned this past Sunday from visiting my parents back in Louisiana (Lafourche Parish) and after the Auburn game (which my father and I attended along with one of my friends from Boston), I told my dad I had a surprise for him. When I revealed to him that I will be purchasing 2 season tickets, starting next year, and that I was giving them to him (except for games that I want to head back down to LA, whereas one of them will be for me), I thought he would cut back flips.

Funny side note. My friend, whos dad is a Texas alumni, is a Longhorn fan (and used to constantly rag on me and say that, "There isn't anything special about LSU"), came to the game with my dad and I. After a few hours of being on campus tailgating, my dad wanted to go to the student union and see about a gameday t-shirt (my dad's quite the collector of them). When we got to the union, the 3 of us seperated while we looked around. My dad and I were at the check out counter when I asked him if he'd seen my friend. Looking around for a few seconds, my dad caught a glimpse of my friend. There he was, a few registers over, purchasing an LSU shirt, LSU shot glass, hat AND visor!!! Surprised, I looked at him and said, "What are you doing?" and then nodded to all the stuff he was buying. He paused for a second, looked around him and turned to my dad and I and said, "Hey! What can I say, I'm hooked!" ...and that was BEFORE he saw the cheerleaders, golden girls and all the rest of the women on campus....then he became addicted! :)

    Nuff said! :) :geaux:

Hey! My folks are down in Lafourche Parish as well (I am near Dallas TX). It is always fun to make the drive to the stadium up Hwy 1 or 308 and see all of the cars with LSU flags heading to the game. I did not get to go to the AU game :( but I will have made it to 4 of the 7 home games. I bet your buddy will be even more "hooked" (pun intended) on LSU after seeing Pregame next time...

Great thread guys! If genetics plays any part of being a true Tiger Fan, then I guess I'll have to give credit to my uncle that graduated from LSU in 1934. He lived in the barracks that is next to the State Capitol. My parents are graduates of Texas Universities, moved to Lafourche Parish, and actually loved Tulane football games (oh, the horror)! I didn't even go to LSU....went to Nicholl's State, then moved here to BR. Met and married an LSU guy whose Dad has had season tickets since 1957. They instilled the love and passion in me. Since 1972, I have only missed about 4 home games in Tiger Stadium. For the last 5 years my husband has decided to stay home and watch the games on TV.....so my son and daughter now attend every home game with me. I guess they did get 'that' special gene!

I've so enjoyed this message board and this is my first post. I hope to get to know all of you as my extended Tiger family.

    I inherited from my parents

My dad was at LSU in the late 40's and I was there in the 1980's. He loved LSU and instilled in me the passion of being a Tiger. My Mom loved LSU, being that she was from Louisiana, but she went to college in Texas. Anyway, they have both passed away. Many people, especially in the South, visit the graves of their loved ones who have left this earth. For me, when I am in Tiger Stadium I'm with my Dad and Mom. I especially feel my dad's presence when I walk into the North End of the Stadium to get my seat. At times when the Tigers are leading in a very big game, I get overwhelmed with emotion thinking about my parents and how I can feel that they are smiling because the Tigers are winning. Thanks Mom, and especially, Thanks Dad for giving me those wonderful memories of my childhood and giving me the opportunity to be a Tiger!:geaux:

A friend of mine recently told me that his 11 year old daughter has never actually seen a black and white TV. Strange. I know they still sell them. I saw a B&W TV in Wal-Mart a few months ago for $29
