I got your "drift" on the crystal ball issue... it's been hashed over many, many times... just can't get too excited over what Sports Illustrated has to say about anything. Oh, and stay angry... sorry I stepped in your pool of venom.

Texas is in the hunt almost every year. Sooner or later they are going to win the big one. But not this year, I'm thinking.

Don't waste your time arguing with a rottweiler, milo. He's gnawing on a Texas T-Bone and isn't sure if all that local longhorn woofing (PRESEASON HYPE PAID FOR BY THOSE DESPERATE BIG TEXAS BUCKS BEHIND THE PROGRAM THAT ARE STICKING IT TO YOU FOR $2.50 A GALLON OR MORE) has merit THIS YEAR. Anyone who tracks statistics knows that Texas is vastly overated AGAIN this year (as Tejas mentioned earlier, they will be exposed). Aside from a very good OL (yet not good enough to deserve a #1 ranking, but very good nonetheless), Texas' Vince Young is as much a liability as evidenced by his stats and past performance. Combine that with an unproven and unimpressive WR corp & running game & you get a ticket to the Vince Young show AGAIN. OSU's WR corp (as good as LSU's, but not in depth) will toast the Texas secondary. On the defensive side, Texas has a great line with a mediocre LB corps, where OSU has a decent line & an extremely good (dare I say great) LB corps. They'll run Young to death in that game. That's when Vince starts to work his magic (ALL THOSE INTS):hihi: Anyway, the Texas HYPE will disappear into the cloud of dust that it really is in a few weeks in Columbus, Ohio. It'll be fun to watch.

People always assume Texas is incredibly talented because they get such great recruiting, but look at their players - I'm of the opinion that they don't develop their talent. I think that's one reason Perrilloux came to LSU, because Texas allows their players abilities to come through but don't really improve them.

Oklahoma will beat Texas. Not because Mac Brown is a choke artists, but rather because Stoops understands Mac's philosophy & if Stoops controls Young, he controls the game.

I'm pretty sure Texas will lose to Ohio St as well because their linebackers are so good that I think they can have a field day with Young.

That leads one to one of many questions, WHO IS MACK BROWN (THE TULANE GREEN WAVE LOONY TUNE FIGHT SONG PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND)? Why doesn't he win the big games? Why doesn't Texas have BALANCE IN THEIR TALENT? Why doesn't Texas keep their big recruits in state (Why won't they play for Mack Brown)? Or get those from Louisiana? Run, Vince, Run! See Mack Run! See Ryan Perriloux decommitt! The latest Texas Myth unravels in Columbus.:hihi:

Mac Brown IS all that! The media says he's a genius, therefore he is! Look at ALL the conference titles he's won! What more does this GENIUS, the GURU have to do?
(Oh, something like WIN one conference title, maybe:D:D:D:D:D)

If Texas can't beat OU this year, they never will under Mack Brown.

Yes, I know Brown did it in year 1 but that when Stoops hadn't gotten OU together.

Take your green while you're being polite. When the season starts, you tend to attract the reds.

I know, Wingman. Texas is overrated. Their offense is completely one-dimensional, I have Ohio State winning their game over texas as well. I hear the 'Horns RB's are pretty good as well, but none of them will be a horse for the 4-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust that Benson was. Texas will probably looking for a quick run offense. Tressell can stop it because Ohio State's LB's are wicked fast and as much as I hate Oklahoma, I'm putting my money on them again for this season's Red River Shootout. If you limit Young's options, including Selvin Young, Brown's offense will have nowhere to turn for yardage.

At least Texas like every other team (except one) in the Top 18 has to play at least a few quality opponents. If they go undefeated we will know they are for real. Same goes for Michigan, Tennessee or LSU. We can all debate ahead of time if these teams are over-rated or not, but we will know for sure soon enough.

However, practically any team in the Top 20 could go undefeated against USC's schedule, so all season long we will have to hear how great they are until they finally play their first real game in the Rose Bowl.
