I'm absolutely fine with 12 (not that it matters) but I think it's a completely fair if not slanted a little towards LSU. I mean to lose what LSU lost due to attrition I feel 12 is more than a fair assessment. The only reason we are that high has to be based on our recruiting classes and what we have coming back which is exactly the way all teams should be evaluated, but honestly, the preseason polls are more a detriment than anything. Since y'all are talking about Kragthorpe, he is listed as an administrator, and I don't think it's fair to say he wasn't effective, the dude got some huge life changing blows and still managed to show Jarrett Lee a few things for a great senior season. I mean I think it's obvious Krag had an effect on him.
OBJ looked great as a freshman then had a soph slump with with Mett as his QB. Landry i hope is like LaFell, looked like nothing special at this point, then blew up as a junior.
You're retarded. ND hasn't been ranked in consecutive preseason AP polls since 1999 (back when they were awesome). Do you think they were ranked preseason AP top 25 last year? Of course you do. But they weren't.
preseason polls mean absolutely nothing to most reasonable people, but they can hold significance to players feeling slighted. because of that, i don't mind being thought of as the 3rd, 4th or 5th best team in the conference at the start of the season. i feel better about this team than i have some years in the recent past. positive things have changed this team since last season to replace the negatives of so many departures. the talent is still there, and if our offense closely resembles the performance of the defense, we'll be just fine.
Preseason polls only really matter if you don't play the people above you. So we win, we get in. If we didn't play them we wouldn't be able to affect it.
