Mark Richt chokes on big cocks... I mean on South Carolina... excuse him while he clears his throat... They lose to South Carolina this year like they did last year.. Mark Richt can't win the big one it's that simple.
Perhaps you can recall a team in the past that has had 11 players leave early. I can't. I've never seen that kind of attrition on a team and because of that I've nothing to base an opinion on how LSU will do replacing so many this season. That is a mystery. It's this unknown/mystery that made me use that phrase. I saw LSU struggle on the road last season. Will they do the same this year? One can point to a new OC and say things will change but in the end it's an unknown. By no means is that a mystery. That is a question that many teams go through each season so it certainly isn't any bigger of a question than other teams have to answer. Mett played VERY well against Bama last year but he had games where he didn't play up to his potential. Which Mett do we see this year? Like scoring on the road it's a question a lot of teams have each year. FWIW, I don't see Ole Miss and A&M as automatic losses for LSU. I like our chances when we meet in BDS but if there's one thing we can both be assured of playing at home doesn't mean a team has a overwhelming advantage over the other. As I have the last few years I see the LSU game as the biggest challenge of 2013.
It's what I said before. The players that are stepping up are a mystery to you, but not to us, which is why nobody here is pulling their hair out worrying about a "rebuilding" season. It's never about who is gone, it's about who is going to play. Mingo and Montgomery surprised the hell out of everybody in that 2011 Oregon game that LSU was supposed to lose. But they were not a mystery to us. LSU lost ONE game on the road last season, amigo. You call that a struggle? Bama lost ONE game at home. Does that mean Bama struggled at home? Exactly. LSU should be no more mysterious than any other contender this year. Bama has a few question marks on the offensive line and defensive back this year itself. Apparently you think a loss to Bama is automatic. Well I don't, chief.
This mystery continues to the AP voters which is side of the story I was pointing to. Why? I can't say but I did say why it's a mystery to me. If the voters and I share the same viewpoint? That means both you and I are right. What's a mystery to us isn't a mystery to you. What was the average red? 15.5 points per game scored on the road last year? That's a struggling offense for you guys. Except I can't think of any team that has lost this many to early entry. Can you? Underclassmen leaving early to even younger? I've never seen that transition. I've never seen that transition under Chavis. Not even close to what I said.
You keep coming back to this, and even our own fans have taken the "early exodus" as a bad sign for our program. Now, don't get me wrong, I'd be thrilled if we had Reid, Montgomery, Mingo, Minter, etc. back, but more than anything, the exodus points to how well LSU is preparing these guys to go out and excell in the NFL. If all of these guys were able to leave as juniors and are making it in the NFL, then Miles, Chavis, and company are doing a very good job of preparing our young players to compete at the highest levels. That means, there are younger guys on the defense that are ready to kick some ass. Chavis said last year that if LSU was recruiting correctly, very few of our guys would stick around for their senior years. Look at Reid, for instance--starting safety for the 49ers.
Why is this so important to you? And why do you feel that this is a bad thing? I repeat . . . it ain't about who is gone, it is about who is here. We have been losing more and more underclassmen to the NFL for several years now and the sky has not fallen. The paradigm has changed. Top recruits are ready for the NFL earlier than in the 20th century. As Chavis has noted, "If we are doing our recruiting right, a player is only going to be here for 3 years anyway". It is not automatic that these fine athletes will be replaced by mediocre ones. We are still bringing in top recruits. Recruits who love the fact that they can see the field early and have an opportunity to go to the NFL early. Why isn't Alabama sending more juniors to the NFL?
