I was only considering the Coaches and Harris polls, in which Rutgers is #14 in both.

Yes, they will surpass us in both.

I think Rutgers showed they are deserving of a shot at the title if they run the table and beat West VA .... They could compete in a one game winner take all against Ohio State or Michigan.

Rutgers would lose to Ohio State 50 - 0 and they would lose to Michigan 45-0. Nobody wants to see either of these games. I think most people would be more understanding if Rutgers made it to the NCG but that is only because it's a good story. Kinda like George Mason in the Final four. If you ask me they beat an average Louisville team because they actually have a decent defense.

That may be true, but most were saying they had no shot against UL. And most will say they have no shot of beating WVA.

Under the current BCS system, an undefeated team from a BCS conference deserves to be in the championship game over a one-loss team from a BCS conference. Don't penalize Rutgers just because they have no football history. Change the crappy BCS system that would allow a team from the Big Least to play for the MNC.

    Go Rutgers!:thumb:

We honestly can't downgrade Rutgers because they have no football history--especially since most of us (myself included) think that LSU gets the short end of the stick to "traditional" powers like ND, Ohio State, USC, OU, etc.

We've complained before that it takes us more "style" points than those guys to get noticed.

Big East Bowl record since 2001

    2001 2-0 (Miami, VT)
    2002 1-1
    2003 0-2
    2004 1-3
    2005 1-3

    Total 5-9

I changed my mind. It will be a great game. Maybe the real problem is that the Big East should not be a BCS conference. They look good for the opposite reason the SEC looks bad. They beat up on the doormats of their conference and we have to hope that the teams that are usually at the bottom put up a fight (Thanks Rutgers!). In the mean time the SEC beats the crap out of each other top to bottom. So Rutgers deserves to go to the MNC more than a one loss Florida? It's just a hard sell for me.

With the powers that be giving such adulation to weak conferences, how long before we see an undefeated Sun Belt team in the top 5 vying for a shot at the national title. In fact, let's just forget hierarchy...why have division 1AA separated from div. 1A. Why not just combine them. After all, some AA schools do go undefeated.

How about the Western Carolina Catamounts vs the Greenbow Mountain Goats for the NC. WVU is the only minimally legit team in the Big East...period. Rutgers anywhere near the top 10 is silly. Yes I AM an SEC elitest.

Hard to imagine, I know. I really don't think Rutgers is deserving b/c of their conference, just like I didn't think UL or WVU were deserving if they ran the table. But if UL and WVU had a legit shot of playing for the MNC if they ran the table, why not Rutgers? That's pretty much my point.

I'm all for anything that makes the BCS look stupid. Words can't describe how much I hate this system.

I want the BCS to look bad as well. I just hate mediocrity. That is what we are getting. I want to see it changed but not at the expense of the traditions that now exist.:helmet:
