Looks like Rutgers should go up to #9 in both human polls ahead of WVU and Louisville. Their computer rankings will also go up tremendously (they already had the 9th best computer rankings, average wise...Louisville had the 3rd best computer rankings). It looks like they will be right in the mix with Florida, Texas, Auburn, USC, Cal and Notre Dame.

Auburn's got to hate the fact that Georgia has gone in the tank. That hurts big time.

And they could still make up even more ground before the regular season is up! Their final game is against WVU.

    BCS Nightmare scenario:
    Auburn loses to AMAB
Arkansas beats Tennessee but loses to LSU
Florida loses to Arkansas in SECCG
    WVU loses to Rutgers
Texas loses to Nebraska in Big XIICG
    USC loses to Cal
    ND loses to USC
    TOSU loses to Michigan

This sets up the quandry of who goes:
An undefeated Rutgers team, sitting in the biggest TV market in the world?
A Cal team that was embarassed in the 1st game of the season?
A TOSU team that just lost their shot at the Wolverines?

My pick would be Rutgers because they would have done everything they could do. Not that they are the best team, but why should TOSU get two back to back shots at Michigan? I don't think Cal would be a good choice either.

It will be fun to watch. Let's face it, the least likely of the above games will be Auburn losing to AMAB

In that scenario, I think Cal would hold on to play for the title. Of course, if OSU barely loses, it may be likely in that scenario they only get voted down to #2 in the polls.

So you honestly think that Rutgers at #15 will jump us at #12? That would suck...

I agree. A sound win over 'Bama could keep them behind us.

IMO, Rutgers jumps us only if we lose to 'Bama.

That's what I was thinking, although I don't put it past the AP, which is probably what he was thinking.

Besides, everyone should jump us if we lose to Bama. Poor, poor Bama...

Why wouldn't Rutgers jump us? They are undefeated. They beat the #3 team with a big time comeback. If we beat AMAB, we will just be kicking a poor team when they are down (I don't necessarily believe that, but that's how the media will see it). The result is a big bump for Rutgers and no bump for us.

Now if Rutgers loses to WVU, we pass them back.

Besides, ranking doesn't mean all that much to us right now. I seriously doubt we are looking at a BCS at large bid. It stinks, but we were 4 yards short at Auburn.

I'm done with the Big East and it's title hopes! If our toughest games were Louisville at home and WVU on the road and that was all we had to do... My God man, we'd have more than ONE crystal football right now! We're not the only ones, I can think of a number of 1 loss, 2 loss, and even 3 loss teams that would likely be undefeated if they only had to get up for those two games against those two opponents. I'm starting to worry that the trend in CFB is going to be even more skewed to scheduling the most rent-a-win teams because it's the formula for playing in the NC. Unfortunately for the SEC, even that is impossible. But hey, sometimes the SEC title is won with more passion, guts, and toil than the NC and I know it, I know others know it, and I wouldn't trade that for a chance to play in any other conference. They play their games, we play ours.
