    Yes, out here as well.

Won't do much to eliminate the brushfires but it apparently significantly reduces the number of accidental in-home deaths from smoldering cigarettes.

theres nothing to wait and see. it restricts the rights of owners which is all you need to know because it limits consumer choices. whether the establishment sells cigarettes has nothing to do with it.

its LIMITING the private owner which LIMITS the free market and hinders business (to what extent is irrelevant) which is most always bad for everyone involved--except the government.

    of course it does.

Tirk and Nutriaitch have it right. I, too, am a nonsmoker. However, if I make the investment to open a bar or restaurant, it should be my choice. Strangely enough, I am seriously considering opening a Jambalaya Shoppe type restaurant here. It would be nonsmoking. But that is my choice, not the government's.

To say that the government needs to control all that is bad for us is ludicrous. Booze is bad, cigs are bad, but they are legal products!

UV rays are bad. Should the govt. force us to dress like Iranian women if we go outside? Should they ban windows that let those ferocious rays inside our businesses and homes? What about skylights? Better ban those and tanning beds too. Ban all short sleeve shirts, short pants, bikinis, etc. Can't be getting skin cancer.

I sure hope they never do a study that says the color beige produces eye strain. I'll never be able to use that color when I paint someone's home.

I am pretty sure that staring at this monitor gives me eyestrain. Should I stop staring or have the govt. force the monitor makers to make a non eyestrain version?

    Where does it stop?!!

You people arguing for the ban are really saying that you want the govt to limit my rights to fit your liking.

Keep up the conversions Tirk! VBall, it takes guts to admit you were wrong, but I'm glad you saw the light!

You're missing the point completely, you should be able to kill yourself any way you choose. However you should not be allowed to take those around you with you. Maybe we should legalize drunk driving since having the government tell you you can't drive drunk and kill other people is restricting your rights. Or maybe letting people consume alcohol but in a way where the people around them are not harmed is a better idea. I support 100% a persons right to smoke and have many friends that do. What I have a problem with is the arrogant stance many smokers take that they smoke and you are just going to have to suck smoke with them.

Nobody is forcing you to be around smokers.
