Meh. He was charismatic. He was a man who was able to coerce, cajole, and otherwise con folks into following him. Personally, I would never call him an excellent leader who's skills were 2nd to none. I'd call him an excellent politician and a failure as a leader. Good leaders don't have their own generals try to kill them because they're sacrificing their entire country and it's future in the name of their own delusions. [cue Red's cheap W reference in 3, 2, 1...]
Man, I wanted to get in on this thread and make an observation about ESPN's announcers, and find its a Hitler thread??? Oh, what the hell....did anyone notice, I believe in the third quarter....USC had illegal motion, and we committed a personal foul. The penalties offset, repeat the down. The ESPN wonk announcing the game expressed his displeasure with that rule, saying "unequal penalties" should not offset, and don't in the NFL. In the NFL, say he, they would have thrown out the motion penalty and enforced the personal foul. Jump ahead to today's Saints/Panthers game. Saints left early on a punt (minor), but Carolina got a personal foul downfield (major). Guess what? Offsetting penalties, replay the down. Found that amusing.
The women of Germany were the ones who bought into Hitler's policies of social reform and it was their votes that elevated him to power. Things like gun control and commodity price fixing were all part of the package. He was also a very dynamic speaker who evoked a great deal of emotional persuasion and typically blamed others for what he and his fellow socialists were responsible for all along. This all reminds me of a certain politician who is currently running for office, but I forget his name.
I think they should get him drunk and ask him some questions, then he could retire like Jimmy the Greek.
