I wouldn't hurt anyone for taking food and water or medicine. But if I were down there, I'd be whomping on anyone stealing anything else.
And I'm assuming you wouldn't be shooting cops either. These people set the rules. They want to be savages, they will be treated like savages.
The vidoes of looting I've seen - some people took food, but they didn't just take food, they took everything they could. And they enjoyed it. It was like free-stuff give a ways to those people. They didn't think twice about the fact that they were stealing from others.
Most of the combat units of the Louisiana National Guard are in Iraq right now. However some of the engineering and support units are here and are mobilizing. It's a shame if they have to be used for security since they are trained in road-clearing, food service, logistics and other specialties that are also badly needed right now.
Even if they arrest these fools, where can they take them? Are the jails even open? The taking food because you are hungry argument sounds good but I'm not sure I am convinced. If you can get to a store can't you find some help from law enforcement or a shelter or something???
(AP) State officials say they are working on plans to evacuate inmates from the Orleans Parish prison and the Jefferson Parish jail. Both facilities face a threat of flooding. The state Corrections Department is trying to figure out how to transfer 4,000 inmates from the New Orleans jail and another 1,000 from the Jefferson Parish jail in Gretna. The inmates would be moved to state prisons including the highest-security at Angola. Corrections spokesman Pam LaBorde says it's quite a logistical situation to accomplish.
Ahh... ok, that makes sense. As for punishment, there will be plenty of clean up duty for em real soon.
Harry Lee's dreams have come true. Shooting without retribution. Would be a good warm up for his Nutria unit, as they'll have other critters to get rid of in the coming weeks.
