the mayor being black has nothing to do with the how they treat people, the mayor is not in charge of police training, etc. She was elected because people voted for her, the mayor in Ferguson is white. I dont see the connection you are trying to make.

The city was protesting peacefully, it only takes a handful of thugs to start a riot.
The city is going bananas because there is no explanation for the death of a guy who was arrested, put in a police van that stopped 3 different times for no explicable reason and ended up dying without medical care for over an hour.
similar story different city. Black people are tired of it despite the problems in many black communities, most black people in these communities want to live a peaceful life and not be scared of being stopped, harassed, unfairly targeted of minor traffic violations, etc.
This has gone on for years, police use to lynch blacks for no other reason then being black so try to forgive if they are not so trusting of authority task with protecting them but has a history of antagonizing them.

Finally, there is excuse for looting and you can see residents black , white are upset over the few who are doing this. Its no place for this, it makes me sick.

This is the same argument they had in Ferguson. They, the black community, had no representation at the upper levels. The Baltimore police commissioner is also black. There are MANY police officers that are black.

Yet, cops are just out to kill black people.

I'm not saying there isn't an issue with bad cops, but the over whelming majority are good.

This is not how you get your voice heard.

who said this, you are stereotyping and minimizing the issue at hand,
no one said this, deal with the issue at hand. Deal with the cops delivered the injury to Freddie Gray.

They said that in ferguson. And don't act like ferguson has nothing to do with this.

I wonder how Carcetti is handling the situation and if Bubs is still alive if he is down there looting. This would have made a great episode or 2 for The Wire.

And for the record, the ONLY people minimizing this issue are the rioters.

    Not me.

We have a justice system. There are legal a ways to get issues fixed.

tell me what ferguson has to do with this. You are minimizing the issue because they have a black mayor. Representation is not the issue, excessive force by police is the main event.

Eh.... A justice system that never holds any cops who are also criminals responsible for their actions. I think the looting really hurts the message of a peaceful protest, but to deny there is an issue with out of control cops is insane, or saying that because there is a black mayor what's the problem? That reminds me of that whole republican line where they say racism is dead now because we elected a black President. Yeah ok.

And I disagree with the overwhelming majority crap. If I had to put a number on it I'd say half. Speaking from personal experience about half of the time I have had to deal with cops they have been nice, other half they have been douchebag lying slime balls who abuse thier power.

Black people aren't the only ones to have excessive force used on them.

They are fighting a system in which they have people like them in office.

    Let the system work.

Instead, they make it about race. Just like in ferguson.

That's fine. Take the side that cops just target black people as the real problem. Nothing will ever change.

Black people in higher offices, LIKE Baltimore are what's needed to push a community change.

    Not fucking riots.

This isn't a one way issue. The cops have blame. But so does the community.

You can't possibly correct this issue by pointing fingers.
