That really is the problem. There is a faction of the LSU fanbase that has always had it out for Miles from day 1. Unfortunately for him (Miles) he has given them plenty of ammunition. On the positive side, the offense did move the ball, we have a qb that can throw the ball and we have a workhorse at rb. If the negativity emanating from from the fanbase doesn't infect the team then LSU still has a chance to win the West this year. I think they stand a damn good chance of beating UF this weekend. Of course, at some point the pressure being put on the team due to some poor coaching may be too much. But Miles could win a Nat'l Championship and there is a certain percentage of fans that would still want to get rid of him.
It's bad press for sure, but I'll say this: We're 5 and 0 and we've got Florida this week. Everyone will be watching to see what happens next. Saturday night will be a HUGE opportunity for Miles and LSU to have a great game. What if we outplay Florida Saturday night and win? What happens to us in the polls? What happens to our team's confidence?
I think what they did was dumb. They have a coach that is suppose to keep correct number of players on the field - they played with 8 last week on a play.
Its just like politics. Spin based on what "side" you're on rules how the actual event will be portrayed. If LSU wins, the Miles haters will spin that Florida really is not that good so the accomplishment will be minimized to be as small as possible. If LSU loses, the loss will be magnified to its biggest possible size and held up as proof that Miles is a buffoon and we need get Nicky the walking wet dream back in Baton Rouge. Didn't you know that now that Florida dropped past LSU we're supposed to go into the Swamp and beat Florida by 3 touchdowns or more?
Perhaps it is... but where are you hearing that? I think you really have to look hard to find anyone making excuses and being blind to the screw-ups. On the other hand, the Fire-Les-Now crowd is out in force and seem to be dominating every thread and media outlet. You shouldn't mistake optimism for blindness, just as your concerns don't equate to surrender.
Just think how embarrassed any team facing us for the rest of the season will feel if they lose against us. I do recall LSU playing much better the week after the Ole Miss debacle but had to win in OT with Arkansas.
Correct. There are some who are harshly criticizing Miles/the entire staff for exactly what happened the other night, and that's fine. I did it myself. But the problem is, when I and others dare to make a thread congratulating Ridley for EARNING player of the week in the SEC, it becomes a bash Miles thread. If I say something about Crowton, even though I've already placed blame on Miles, then people claim I'm defending Miles. If I say that Miles is equally responsible for the defense and special teams as he is for the offense, which is true, I've got my head stuck in the sand. - Miles is responsible for what happened the other night, and I have stated that several times. But it's not enough. I need to change my name to "FIRELESMILESIMMEDIATELY!!!!!!", or is that one already taken?? Like SF said...very tiring.
You didn't just say that. With the talent we have when we go out, execute and beat teams they'll have no qualms with it. In fact that's a lot to do with the shyt in the UT game cause people know we're a quality team that's what makes it look worse.
I am not making excuses and I am not blind to the "problem". You and your ilk, however are blind to the positives of this team. Jesus Christ, the team hasn't lost a fking game and you think I need you to tell me the sky isn't falling? The obvious thing that is not right is that we don't have a QB. Period. If we did, the score against Tennessee would have been 35-7 and it wouldn't matter if Les jacked off during the final play.
No, I'm talking about being embarrassed losing to Coach Miles. This thread is about Miles. Tennessee can criticize us all they want and call Miles all the dopey names they want and then have to live with themselves because they lost to him.
