No my friend, look at the quote, its from the bowl game. Flynn had hardly any game experience before the Citrus Bowl, Russell had a few starts and plenty of game time under his belt.
yeah but you were saying that Flynn had no time to "prove" himself as he was thrown into the bowl game and did poorly. CParso, stated that Russell was thrown into the opener against OSU with LSU trailing and did and awesome job to bring us back and win. Cparso wasn't comparing JR and MF at the time of the bowl game but rather at the time of being thrown in .....JR did MUCH better in that situation.
I dont know this for sure but there were rumors last year that Jamarcuss was freelancing when he was playing in some of those games and i think Matt Flynn snaps in the Capital One bowl had something to do with that. I think since maturity and coaching have set Jamarcuss straight on you do what your told and you will be successful. If you freelance and dont listen then you wont play. I just think Coach Miles needs to make his decision sooner rather than later because say what you will teams need to know who is their leader. If we wait till the last week before the game then the first interception people are going to be calling for the other guy. I think they are all great qb's and that is what is making the decision so hard.
I guess I read it wrong, but I agree that Russell did do better in that situation. But a season opener and a bowl game are two different levels of pressure. Either way I think all 3 QBs have what it takes to be starters in the SEC. I really dont like how people forget to mention MF.
Because the team is overlooking Flynn. Read the interviews...when they are asked who's the leader, they all say Russell. Taking control of a team is as important as ability to throw the ball...if a QB can chunk the ball around adequately and has the full support of the team as a leader, he's going to start 100% of the time. I love Flynn..I'm one of the 1% who predicted he was better and would start last year, but the writing is all over the wall this year. I still think he's as good as Russell straight up..as a QB, they are even in different ways, but if the team think Russell is the leader - then Russell IS the leader.
Yes but people are also talking about RP starting, which I think is ridiculous. On top of that a lot of people are saying RP is going to be the #2. I think MF just deserves to be mentioned more when they talk about the QBs....I mean dont get me wrong I think JR starts this year and believe it when the team says hes the leader, I dont know we just need to show Flynn some love thats all....
He deserves it for sure, he performs as well as anyone in practice situations...and should he be given the chance to do it in extended game time, he'd do it there too. The problem is he won't get that shot off the bat because the team knows they need to stick to one guy - and they've chosen that guy for whatever reason. As bad as it is to have a QB controversy in the media and amongst the fans, it's 10000x times worse to have one within your team.
LOL. I could careless what color he is. I dont care if we have a flaming homosexual out there as long as he wins games for LSU, I'm happy......and as long as the center is ok with that. :hihi:
I was comparing Russell to Flynn with both the Oregon St game & the Cap One Bowl. Either way you look at it, Russell performed better last year.
