I just never understood the Oil argument - can one of you liberals actually break it down for me - and not in lefty talking points... What is our political and military involvement in oil-rich Venezuela? Gasoline in Europe has been $4, $5, $6 a gallon for a long time. If this is about cheap oil why are so many European nations opposed to our efforts in the Middle East? Liberals are the most misinformed, rediculous, off-base people in the universe (and this includes Auburn fans). Keep bitching, complaining, and doing everything you can to blame this great country for anything under the sun - thankfully, the Doers on the Right and the brave kids in the desert will pay you no mind...
I didn't intend any reference to "your level of prayer" I merely offered you a suggestion that you could offer those in harm's way something other than your seemingly less than enthusiastic support. I mean no personal attack toward you, Hawker... if you take it as such then I apologize. Perhaps I am sensitive to this because this weeken or early next week they will burying a brave young soldier who used to attend my church, SGT. Ryan Montgomery in Greensburg, Ky. His older brother, Bryan will be flying home from Iraq with Ryan, where they were both serving. Ryan was a GREAT example to all of us. With him, it wasn't about politics, it was just supporting those around him.... maybe there's a lesson for all of us. Once again, If I offended you then I apologize.
Most smart liberals (oxymoron) have given up the war for oil debate. They have since moved on to even dumber ideas.
Dude, liberals get offended when they look in the mirror in the morning - the sunlight offends them when they walk outside. Being offended is the liberal maxim...
BB....We as consumers are not going to see any signifigant difference in the price of oil. When people say "it's all about the oil" I'm sure they're speaking of the few thousand owners and investors in the different oil rich fields, pipelines and plants in Iraq and surounding countries. I have a few buds of mine that are in Iraq right now that just stand in the sand protecting the pipelines that spread accross the country..... Personally I could care less about Iraq and the "Houdini WMD's" and all the oil. I'm jealous I don't have my hand in the cookie jar.... We will continue to protect the foriegn oil for US business men....... I just wish we put forth an equal effort to find the terrorist (obl) that killed thousands of innocent people here on our soil. I don't think it's fair to the soldiers that are actually hunting down terrorists to handcuff them with little support. the 9:1 ratio kills me..... Screw Iraq until we take care of our own business (FINDING OBL)
Sighhhhh :dis: :dis: The undeniable fact that Saddam Hussein was stockpiling chemical and biological weapons (commonly referred to as WMDs) is only one of many reasons we are in Iraq. But, please don't allow the truth to get in the way of liberals' hatred of Bush for having the temerity to kick Gore's and Kerry's respective asses.
This always gets them. I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish. Six weeks ago, Saddam Hussein announced that he would no longer cooperate with the United Nations weapons inspectors called UNSCOM. They are highly professional experts from dozens of countries. Their job is to oversee the elimination of Iraq's capability to retain, create and use weapons of mass destruction, and to verify that Iraq does not attempt to rebuild that capability. The inspectors undertook this mission first 7 1/2 years ago at the end of the Gulf War when Iraq agreed to declare and destroy its arsenal as a condition of the ceasefire. The international community had good reason to set this requirement. Other countries possess weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. With Saddam, there is one big difference: He has used them. Not once, but repeatedly. Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missiles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/middle_east/july-dec98/clinton_12-16.html
Afghanistan is a very rugged country - dropping troops into the frigid mountains to look for a rat in a hole is insane. Beyond that, Afghanistan has a functioning Government that is cooperating with the U.S. to locate and capture terrorists - this has not been fully achieved in Iraq... yet. Troops in Iraq are crucial at this point. As for protecting oil pipelines, WTF do you suggest? They are easy targets that blow up and burn and require extensive repairs. It would be irresponsible to leave them unattended and accessible for terrorists. Why in the F**K would we not protect them? If China invaded us I would be willing to bet that they guard the Hoover Dam and Fort Knox - would that make the war all about irrigation and gold?
It's not too late, I believe your local pharmacy is still open. It never fails, whenever you forget to take your pills your memory is the first thing to go..........
Tell that to the families of the thousands of innocent victims/us citizens that died on 911 due to terrorists (obl) that hide in such places you speak of.......
