pretty sure theyve got that backerds. UM is the only school for which there is no buyout.

wonder if there's a chance at rodriquez.

I think CLM had a buyout for UM until they removed it after the 05' season.

Yes they will. Just like the gumps did with Satan and Florida did similarly with CUM. I think the Bama job was open for 9 weeks and Florida was 7 weeks. If Miles is who they want, and the back channel chatter with his agent is positive, they will wait. Just like other high profile schools have done. Its not uncommon.

Les is on right now on the Mike Tirico show and they are talking about the possible Michigan job. Basically said he has one job to focus on is is big Lloyd fan...(blah, blah)

You can listen to it if you are an ESPN insider.

Right, . . . and CRAWFISH guaranteed us that Nick was not leaving. Both predictions together and $1.25 will get me a cup of coffee at Louie's.

Skip was very confident that Nick wasn't going anywhere either.

If Les wants to go home, then we want him to leave right now, not in five or ten years. With the record put up by LSU's last two coaches, LSU will have no trouble at all in landing the best coach available.

One a lot younger than Spurrier and still winning at whatever school we rob him from.

I'm sure his radar has this one locked, no doubt. His agent may already be talking with Michigan. I expect this type of "coach speak" until things really start rolling. I also expect LSU to make a nice counter offer. :tigereye:

    ZING...

poor Crawfish. I like the guy but that was a fiasco. He was led down the proverbial garden path when all signs overwhelmingly pointed to Saban leaving.

Steve Spurrier coming to LSU is extremely far fetched as well. I dont see it. Bama took a run at him and and he said no. I dont think the LSU job is any more attractive to Spurrier. When the time comes, he's not going anywhere except retirement and the golf course.

If Miles were the targeted coach, and the agent chatter is positive, would UM not prefer Carr to delay announcing retirement?

If the Carr retirement announcement rumor is true, this seems like UM wants a jump on the coach search process. The field will be open early.

Sure, Miles could go to UM. Given the circumstances, though, the situation is much different than with Saban or Meyer, and it could get very ugly (and expensive) for all concerned. Meyer was a man moving up in the world, and Saban had nothing at stake in '04 or with Miami. Should LSU make the title game, the pressure on Miles to declare a definitive 'no' will be intense. Can you imagine every pre-game interview with national media and this topic keeps coming up? He could make an ass of himself quickly, potentially blow the game, and all the while UM will still want him? It just seems lose-lose. Crazy things happen, though.

I'm sure even if CLM is on the top of their list they will still want to interview other candidates. For this reason I'm sure they would like Carr to resign ASAP. It's good leverage for them when negotiating with their top guy, and it's just smart to have a back-up. Plus I believe they are required to interview at least one minority. So it's not like they can just offer CLM, have him accept and call it a day.
