    agreed.

not to disagree with red (i think hitt had a decent first game as a starter)

i thought will arnold played very well in mop up duty.

also liked the effort by tolliver after his catch (he's a rail)

loved seeing the defense flying around the ball. i didn't go to the game, but i had friends that did and all said that we physically beat up state. (espn focused on henig) but the whole team was walking slow and gimpy at times.

I liked the fact the team seemed to get stronger as the game went on. I think this team had a great offseason program and it will help them late in the games and you start getting tired .

Outside of the LaFell block that has already been mentioned and the fact that Early got open quite often, what I was particularly impressed with was that when we threw to other receivers (the young guys), they made great plays: Tolliver had a real nice catch/move/run at the end of the first half to set up the KW TD run with :04 left and early in the game, Chris Mitchell made a real nice catch on a 3rd-and-long.

Not too many drops, if any, by young receivers. And that's key down the road because at some point, teams will start pressing Early more and guys like LaFell, Tolliver, the Mitchell's, etc. will HAVE to make the play.

I also liked the play of our secondary. Steltz is an obvious choice, but Curtis Taylor played a VERY solid game. Surely he's not ready to make people forget about LaRon, but Taylor had an INT, was physical in his tackles and was a ballhawk. I have a feeling that Taylor will be this year's Jessie Daniels in that Daniels was over-shadowed by LaRon so often and Steltz will be drawing most of the praise this year, but at the end of the year, Daniels always had a solid year and I believe Taylor will too.

I also liked the play of Highsmith. He's awesome!

Another thing: we had six ints because we actually caught the ball. The past couple of years we dropped a lot of those types of balls.

I liked the cute little pass to Scott for the TD.

I loved that we went for the TD at the end of the half, instead of settling for the FG. It was as if we, as a team, said, "We're going for it, we're GOING to get it, and we're taking control from here on out." That, more than anything else, broke State's back.

I've also come to expect seeing opposing players limp around after playing us. We really are a team to be feared, and I never really believed that was going to happen in my lifetime after the misery that was the decade of the '90's.

I know that State's recievers aren't the speediest bunch, but man, our secondary gave them not one inch of breathing room at any point. Most of the INTs were terribly overthrown. Heck, several of them weren't even caught by the DB covering the intended reciever. But even if they hadn't been so far off, they would have been deflected or intercepted because our DBs were absolutely smothering their WRs.

It also looks as if Early and Flynn have that rapport that makes a good QB/WR combo. You can definitely tell that they've spent a lot of time working together this summer. I'm hoping for a sort of Davey/Reed battery from those two this year.

Oh, and about Lafell...he is noticeably more muscular this year. That's always a good thing!

    State never threatened a score,

Offense took care of the rock on a wet night,

Coaches are committed to getting the fastest little man in America the ball or at least utilize him in the offense as a decoy,

I like allowing the quarterback to run the ball, because the QB is either unaccounted for or the defense is forced to commit a player to spy on the quarterback and this leaves one less defender to commit to our RBs. I know it is dangerous and allows the quarterback to get injured but in my opinion you need to play to your teams strengths and tucking the ball and running is an asset of both Flynn and Perilloux, and I dont like cant play to avoid injuries but play to dominate your opponent.

I like the punter, not the ugly punt formation

I LOVE the kickoff coverage team. This team has amazing athletes and team speed.

I love the depth on defense. McCray looks strong, Chad Jones and his brother Rahim look fast and aggressive, Levington impressed, Woods is a mountain of a man, among many other great athletes

Barksdale looked as if he will be a dominant force on the O-Line for years to come, and his dominance could start sooner than later.

Beating a conference team on the road in a rainy game 45-0 and the offense didnt even look all that impressive.

Most of all I loved seeing the boys in purple and gold dominate as the WILL the rest of the season.
