Posted just now about the Battle of Tushima Straight in "This Day in History" and the raising of the "Z flag" over the Japanese flagship. That battle made the "Z flag" and the letter Z in general a revered element in Japanese culture. LKF: the Nissan "Z" line of automobiles (280Z, 300Z, etc) is a reference to the Z flag.
Was looking back through this thread and this one caught my eye. Posted in March 2019. Caught my eye because I saw something earlier this week that said one of the grandsons is still alive and kicking.
This may or not be a LKF, but I didn't know it. Scott Innes said this on radio this morning, that the song "Slow Ride" by Foghat was written by the band while they sat stuck on I-10 between Lafayette and BR. Didn't say it like it was a joke.
On the famous statue of Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial, Lincoln's hands are making the signs for the letters "A" and "L" in International Sign Language. This is in honor of Lincoln being the first President to fund education for the deaf.
