Most college football fans know that preseason rankings and $1 will buy you bus fare, in terms of it being an accurate predictor of how good a team is by season's end. But preseason rankings most certainly DO matter to the voters/BCS computers when it comes time for the NC game if there are multiple undefeateds. Just ask the 2004 Auburn team.

 

Went to the store today and they did not have one. Does anyone know when they come out? I couldn't find it on their websites.

 

I'm pretty sure, for that year- the last year SOS was used- It didn't matter to the computers and it was their SOS that kept them out. Do I think they deserved a shot?? Definitely, anytime a team goes undefeated in the SEC I think they deserve a shot but that year, "Our strong conference that we beat each other up in" wasn't as strong that year and didn't get them over the top in the SOS- as evidenced in the computer rankings:

In 2004, the SOS was removed because it was a big reason why USuCk was left out of the CG in '03.
