Our defense has been getting turnovers to give our O a short field many times, and Skyler Green is good for 85+ yards per game that our offense does not have to gain. When you look at those two factors, that can explain a good deal about why our yardage totals are less than you'd think for 33 ppg.
Weren't we once the second worse pass defense? At least we are improving. And against one of the best QB's in the SEC, nonetheless...
It's clear I'm a sunshine pumper for this staff, but let's don't be mistaken about who we beat here While Cutler, in a vacuum, is a good QB, his OL is horrible and his WRs are not the fastest. Yes, they run precise routes and have good hands, but when the DL is taking turns swapping facemask paint with you, it's hard to deliver a good ball. Of course a good DL QB rush is part of pass defense too, and we have shown improvement in our comfort level overall. I still think we played better as a D vs. MSU than we did vs. Vandy..but it's close. At least MSU has some athletes that are comparable in size, speed, and toughness to most avg. teams.
