Too simplistic. We are a global power with global responsibilities and global interests to protect. In general, interfering in another countries internal politics is a waste of time. But there will always be instances where America's best interests must be considered. If there were democracies in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, those countries would be enemies instead of allies. The Palestinians gained the right to vote and they elected Hamas! Paul is right, its not our place to tell other countries how to conduct their affairs, but it would be outright foolish not to protect America's best interests. We need to pressure our enemies and sow discord among them, not among our allies. Long-time allies deserve to be allowed to change gradually as we influence them without causing revolution and riots.
