Ok, if you'd prefer -Harris' performance off the bench in the previous two games forced his hand. Either way, AJ is CLM's QB and Auburn gave him his excuse to nail Harris back to the bench regardless of how poorly Jennings performs. Explain to me why Harris saw some playing time each game until he outplayed AJ to the point that CLM felt he had to start him and then after one outing never sees the field again. You can say Harris isn't ready, that he sucks, that he's worse than AJ, that he hasn't earned PT, but the comparable stats on the field (from the spring game through MSU) says different. Again, I'm not anti-Jennings. I'm not calling for Harris to be the starter. I want Jennings to be All-SEC. I want him to make us forget BH is in the stadium because my Tigers will be all the better for it and that's all that matters. But my opinion remains that BH will not be given a real chance to compete for the job and that BH has far more upside and that now that AJ has been named starting QB, he will remain so until injury or graduation. I just a fair and open QB competition. I want BH to get some meaningful playing time so he can develop and hone his talent. I'm convinced it won't happen and I think my Tigers will not be all the better for it.
I don't know, Harris had the same shot a QB did this weekend. A&M started a young QB against this same auburn team an won.
True. Also, a Nick Marshall who got drilled at LSU last year went on to the BCS National Championship game. I guess it is possible to improve during a season. The coin has many sides and the one that was never seen is sometimes the most desired. At least until it lands up.
IMO, the quarterback competition opens back up in the spring, and BH can win the job if he performs better than AJ.
LSU was a different team back then. AJ didn't fare much better. They had about the same total yardage in the game. Neither completed more than 50% of their passes. You pretend as if BH hasn't had a good outing. I would like to believe that but Harris outperformed AJ this past spring and didn't win the job. What makes you think he'll win it next year? Again, I don't care who the starter is, I'm just convinced by past experience that once Miles picks a starter, that's the starter come hell or high water. I want the best QB on the field.
Dad, are you saying that A&M started a freshman who couldn't beat out Hill in the spring, who obviously wasn't ready and he beat Auburn? Interesting.
