So what you're saying is that you don't think he was offered the job? :insane:

We will never know but I think the guy from Rutgers was their first choice.

We are LSU. Les Miles is our coach. We will win the BCS NC.
This Tiger is very happy and could care less if UM or anyone else talked to about or offered a job to Les.

Does the king's ranson necessary to keep Miles around hurt our ability to attract a top-flight defensive coordinator? I heard the budget was already going to be stretched, now factoring in this huge increase we may have to hire a relative unknown with the hope they do well vs. an established coach with a proven track record.

Great Post!!! I agree totally. I always said, give Les a chance. After the first year, Katrina year, I thought he did a good job, but had a bobble against Tn. I was impressed that he signed Perrilloux the first month, something our former coach could not do. He has recruited well, every year. Year two was solid, and if we'd have played Fla. in the championship game last year instead of OSU, I think LSU would have won. I think we were the hottest and best team over the second half of the season, because JaMarcus came of age after the Fla. game, IMO. Les did good bringing in Crowton to coach the offense, I have enjoyed his gameplans and new plays. Les has hired good coordinators and coaches, and they have stayed together which speaks well of Les. When your coordinators are successful and moving on to be head coaches or get a shot at it like Jimbo, you can't quibble with that. I means we had quality personnel and Les picked them.

Staying in Baton Rouge is huge in this case. We do have OUR coach for the foreseeable future, IMO. He has already been very successful, and it is time for all Tiger fans to get on this bandwagon and ride it. This is our gig now! I think Skip has done us proud on this one! :geauxtige :LSU231:

Don't know why that would be a factor. If none of this Miles to Michigan talk ever happened, his old contract had provisions in it that would have given him a huge pay raise for winning the SEC and even more for an NC. Basically, it's the same amount he'll get under the new contract. The new contract was really nothing more than an extension with some changes in his buyout should LSU fire him and some money for his kids to go to college.

I wish people would get off of saying that. When a coach takes risks and the play doesn't work then he is called boneheaded, if it works then he is called a genius, when in reallity it's neither. I would still rather a coach that takes risks and goes for it instead of one that is conservative and wants to just play it safe. I think the players like a coach that has faith in them in critical situations also, i know i do. Besides I don't think we would be in the championship game without the chances he took in the Florida game. He played it conservative on that 4th and ten in overtime against Arkansas by not blitzing and it bit him in the ass. Hind site is always 20/20. Also he seems to be straight shooter, fiery type who just says what is on his mind, which sometimes gets him in trouble or doesn't come off to smooth, so what. I think he is a great coach and i wouldn't trade him for any other.
