How many games has he started, he also recruited Jerrard Randle. And before u say he can't play now, I know, but going into next season do we really know who our qb is going to be?

Now that the post-Perrilloux era is over, we'll find out soon enough.

Dude, I am with you, okay. Something definitely needs to change on offense. One huge change will be JJ/JL hitting the door. We have been gameplanning our offense for far to long now behind two mediocre at best QB's, both with to much mental baggage.

What we need more than anything is a competent QB who is mentally and physically going
run a successful SEC / PRO style offense "ON THEIR OWN".

I hope that Jerrard Randle can catch the ball better than RS. :)

A lot of soul searching has to be done, but there is no 100% successful formula.

Some say: Hire a big name Offensive Coordinator. Well, Gary Crowton was a big name offensive coordinator when he was hired. In 2007, he did pretty well, though there were signs of the problems to come (eg, Doucet lining up wrong causing TD call back vs Ark that could have won that game). Krags was a big name coordinator when he was hired, but nobody could have foreseen the illness. I agree that some changes need to be made, if only to replace BG. Gonzales was the Passing game coordinator, and we all saw how that worked out.

All of that said, the design of the offense isn't all that defective. It's basically a pro-style power offense, similar to what Pittsburgh runs. It's based on having the running game establish the need to have the defense stack the box, opening up passing lanes that can be exploited. It relies on a QB who can stand tall in the pocket, step forward and deliver strikes to wideouts that have beaten man coverage. LSU simply didn't have that QB. Lee apolgists will say he was the guy, but Bama had him throwing off of his back foot early in the first game, causing his panicky nature leading to the INTs. Lee also had some trouble really stretching the field, which is absolutly required in this offense. Here's hoping Mett can make opponents defend the entire field like no QB since Flynn could (and Perrilloux didn't look like he would either.)

The game plan for both Alabama games was to hide the weaknesses we had with each QB. It barely worked in the first game and was a complete disaster in the second. But that doesn't mean that the design will be bad when we get a good QB in there. Here's hoping Mett is that guy.

This may upset a few,but to me when JJ was in we played to not make mistakes. Lee threw the ball a lot more and they did not run the same plays over and over that was not working. Now that JJ is gone maybe we will see a team that looks like we did the first 9 games. I think Miles is one of the best, but if he is not going to let his coaches coach get rid of the coach he does not trust.

I agree with you that CLM is a great coach but that the NCG was a colossal failure (which is uncharacteristic of CLM.) The team was flat. After a 37 days of hearing how great you are, that is to be expected to a degree. Alabama WANTED this game more than the Tigers and were ready. We have to move on now.

We have a team that will be better next year, especially at QB (and I do hope RR stays too). Alabama looses much more this off season than LSU. We are even more stacked now that before and the biggest thing to me is that LSU will be EXTREMELY HUNGRY after this game.

We are in great position for 2012.

There's nothing out of line about your post. It's well thought-out and doesn't point fingers.
