Someone threw logic out with the baby and bathwater. If universities were no longer "firearm free zones," thus allowing persons on campus to legally possess firearms for self-defense, the concealed weapons laws would still be in effect. I seriously doubt that many persons on campus would strap on the holster to their thigh like its high noon and its gonna be a shootout. This is, of course, the only way to legally carry a weapon on the street without a concealed carry permit. The weapon has to be fully visible (e.g., not concealed). If you don't believe me, ask the Gonzales Police Dept who go sued for taking a citizen's weapon in town for having it holstered while he was walking down the street. Its that whole argument about the right to bear arms. For those who wish to carry a concealed weapon, they still have to submit all requisite paperwork, submit to a background check, undergo a firearm training class, and qualify on the firing range, all prior to being issued a concealed weapons permit. So we are back to the fact that law-abiding citizens are the ones who would apply for a concealed carry permit, authorizing them to carry firearms on campus. These people will have undergone requisite training, background checks, and most important, qualified on the firing range. I can assure you that IF I was allowed to carry my concealed weapon on campus, I would not be involved in a random shootout. You only draw your weapon if your life is in imminent danger. Too many bad things can happen when you are irresponsible. Proper training teaches the necessary responsibility.
That's a good thing. There are several idiots...I mean, elected officials, that could stand a few shots over the bow... Disclaimer...This post in no way implies any direct or indirect threat to any elected official, whether they are at the state capitol, or elsewhere.
two reasons-- if the boss happened to make a round and found that on my watch, goodbye full free ride. or, more likely, if other athletes found out, theyd do it too or blackmail. let him go to the chicks place for that stuff, just like i had to.
