While a bit disappointed if this is indeed the hire, I am not mad with the selection. Miles is a good coach and would do well here at LSU. GEAUX TIGERS!

I can't give Les an unqualified great report, but he has potential. He is at a recruiting disadvantage in OK and TX, to Sooners and Longhorns/Aggies, and I can't imagine Stillwater is a garden spot. I think he has a winning record against Ok? and compares well with Tex. From the spot of a disadvantage in recruiting, whats to not like?

He could work out very well, nobody who is a cinch is prime to move (Stoops, come on!).

He comes to LSU, he's top dog in La, if he could recruit in Stillwater against OK and UT, he should be able to recruit in La.

If you don't like Les, please explain why. I'm going watch the game now. Back in 3 hours.

Look guys, I'm not trying to sell you on our coach, but I will defend him if this all true. NOBODY in Stillwater wants him to leave. His is by far the best thing that has ever happened to Oklahoma State football. He was our second choice behind Dirk Koetter,(ASU head coach), but we couldn't be happier that Dirk backed out. Les is one of the most stand up guys you could ever have the pleasure of knowing. We are the stepchilds of Oklahoma, until this year we have played in a glorified high-school stadium, I mean old Lewis Field was just gross. We are in the middle of a $100 million dollar renovation/expansion. (Only Iowa State has a smaller athletic budget in the Big XII). Without Les it never even would have been considered. He is a great recruiter. We get our fair share of the blue-chippers now. He is a bit conservative on offense, but he doesn't lose games with stupid calls either. He consistently puts a competitive team on the field, we lost our 3 best offensive players last year to pro sports, and were only picked to win 4 or 5 games this year. We won seven and went to the Alamo Bowl. Yeah we got hammered by Ohio State, but according to the "experts", we were not supposed to be there.
I will be one sad Cowboy if all this is true, but you all will gain some Oklahoma based LSU Tiger fans if he really is your next coach.

Thanks for you insight. I think it is worthwhile to note that if your fan base for the most part feel this way, then you guys should be damn proud of the way you handle yourself. Louisiville and even some of our fans (me included) were not quite as understanding during our coaching fiasco.

I cannot see someone leaving LSU for Michigan once they are established. If it is a real concern I am sure Skip can address it contractually.

Personally I think it's an apples & oranges comparison. If indeed Miles is the selection and he enjoys the same success as his predecessor, I'll be back with egg on my face and admit I was wrong.

Don't get me wrong, there are quite a few Cowboy fans that have already said "get lost". But they are in the minority. Keep in mind that if fans are acting like that, it's because they feel betrayed. If he hadn't been winning and all the good things going on, then nobody would say anything at all, or worse, calling for him to be fired. Just like with our previous two coaches.
I will stand by Coach Miles no matter what he does. If he does leave, he is leaving the cupboard full of unbelievable talent for the next coach. Oklahoma State football has never looked brighter. I just hope that we don't finish 2nd in our respective conferences if he leaves. I don't want to play him in the Cotton Bowl. It honestly would be difficult for me to choose sides. The man who rebuilt OSU football, or OSU football.

fair enough - but are you basing that on your feelings about Saban today or comparing to what you knew of him in 2000?

I agree 100%. I wil assure that Les Miles will not got 4 1/2 million thrown in his face by the NFL, big difference , Mr. Marine. Again, I hope the Pro-miles people are correct, but I think we might regress back to medicority.

    Good call.

Seems to me that unless we hire God himself, people will ne be satisfied. Heck, I don't have any problem with people not liking the hire.....but "nightmare" and "horrible hire" and all these other rants are ridiculous.
