People...Saban was no sexy name when we hired him. We had just kicked his Mich st ass...didn't have a great record at msu but a good one, once he went to a school that's THE state school he won a nc....i'm sure it's tough recruiting at ok st especially with ok nearby

Has anybody that can actually say he is hired, say "he is hired'?

So we should ban everyone that disagrees with you. In terms of where our program is at which according to some that were are a legitmate top 5 program, we should of hired made a better hire than Les Miles. I give miles credit that he did beat OU, but I happen to watch Okie State a few times on the Game Plan and everything about them is Vanilla. This will be by far the most boring system you will ever watch. I assure you will we going back to days of going to Shreveport every December.

We should of aggressively went after a guy like Del Rio and money should not be an object considering we have over 70 million in bonds outstanding and Les Miles can not be going over well with Ron Richard and TAF. I have no confidence that Skip got aggressive with this hire and did just like Jermey Foley did at Florida and just hire someone.

So, you are in favor of an LSU fan starting a fire<insert LSU coach>.com?

Wow, we should ban your ass too then.

This is not comparable to the Saban hire, not at all.

Before the Saban hire, LSU was a losing program, as was Oklahoma before Stoops (I promise you that, after Gary Gibbs and John Blake, there were Chicken Littles in Oklahoma talking about how it was all over for OU as far as being a contender was concerned).

As Saban leaves, LSU has made the financial committment--thanks in no small part to the interest in the program brought about by LSU's success on the field-- to have the infrastructure in place to keep and maintain on-field excellence for years to come. Mid-major schools have to roll the dice and take chances on coaches in the hopes of keeping them, because they don't have the resources to compete year in, year out (how's Tulane done since Tommy Bowden left, for example).

A program that hauls in millions more than all but 110 or so other Div-1A programs doesn't have to lower itself to such a level...unless it has a panicky AD and Board of Supervisors at the helm.

Comparing the state of the LSU football program in 1999 to the state of the program in 2004 is like comparing apples and oranges.

Take the time---even if it means sacrificing this year's relatively small recruiting class---to interview all interested candidates and make the best hire possible, not try and shoehorn someone in by a certain date (or, at least, not within 7 days of the start of your search).

We haven't just kicked Mich State's ass, that was like 4 years prior to us hiring him. I think I am right about saying that Mich State was 9-2 the year we hired Saban. And yes Saban was a sexy name considering Bill Pollan thought he was the best coach on grass, and even at Mich State the NFL was calling him. I put Nick Saban on the same level as a Kirk Ferentz which is light years better than LSU Does Better With Les Miles. What a fu&&&ing joke for a hire.

I wouldnt mind supporting it. But I more disgusted with the powers of LSU of making this kinda 2nd rate hire. I just know that rat, Charlie Cusimano had his hand on this hire.

    Les Miles

Lets take a close look at hiring Miles. First of all, 5 years ago did anyone have any idea that Saban would be so sucessful? I sure didn't.

Secondly, lets look at the man who is hiring Miles...Skip Bertman. If anyone here doesn't think that Skip is a winner, you are sadly mistaken. You don't win 5 national championships in baseball by not being a winner or knowing what it takes to win. And I feel confident that he will knows what it takes in a coach to win. I'm just glad Joe Dean is not in charge now.
