personally, i think the intent was to get the play off a few secs sooner so that if the pass failed there was still for a field goal. but, for whatever reason, the play didn't get off as soon as it should have. the more i think about that, i believe the right play was called. it is just how how the play was handled with the clock that probably wasn't part of the plan and gave every one a heart attack.

not to mention, there have been a few missed fg's this year. had a fg been called and missed, miles would have been crucified for not running one more play first.
