The touchdown was actually caught with 4 seconds on the clock still left - so I don't really know why the clock ran all the way down to 1 second before being stopped, but I am not sure that, on an incomplete pass, that the clock would have expired - or if it had, that a replay of the play would not have put some time back on the clock.
If he plays conservatively and the field goal attempt is blocked or missed then he is being roasted today for not taking shot at the endzone. I love the play. He caught the defense flat footed and what a memorable ending to another great Tiger comeback victory. Can't we just enjoy the victory and not frett over what didn't happen? It's a great time to be a LSU Tiger fan :thumb:  :helmet: :geauxtige
Yeah, I don't get why people and the media keep saying time would have ran out if incomplete. It would have taken something unusual like a prolonged bobble/juggle or the ball being knocked in the air. But it was a little too close for comfort.
So's the possibility of a miss FG or a block FG or a fumble FG snap.... I agree with LM call. If the pass was incomplete, the clock would have stop. If there was some fumbling of the pass w/ the WR...then maybe the clock might ran out. But with that much time left, we should have snap the ball a lot sooner - then even with a fumbling miss catch, we would still have some time left. Clock stops on an incompletion. We did have a time out left too. Btw, how many fans would have roasted LM if he didn't take a shot at the end zone and play it safe for a game winning FG and the FG was missed????? I really don't understand why ppl are criticizing the shot at the end zone - they should criticize the clock management instead. Great call LM. FEAR THE HAT. :crystal::crystal::crystal:
Don't overlook the decision on the extra point. True, it woulda taken a miracle for Aubie to score a TD on the final play of the game...but LSU not trying to extend the lead to 7 pts w/ a 2 pt conversion could have made a difference if Aubie did take it to the house, Cal-Stanford style.
Does the clock runs on a 2 pt conversion? I thought it does. If so, why didn't we go for 2 and run out the last 1 second? Seems to me that's better than letting them return a kick off....
I'm inclined to agree with you in that we should take a win as a win. But I think people's concerns are legitimate. I mean, Miles has cajones like no one else I've ever seen, but taking big gambles like that....well....sooner or later the odds will catch up with you. Or will they?
No, the clock doesn't run on PATs regardless of whether the try is for one or for two. I was expecting them to go for two, but it really wasn't necessary with only one second left. Initially, I thought maybe they kicked the extra point to be sure and get to 30, but then I thought... no way.
