Well we have 11 seniors (Counted PP) on scholarship and attrition brings us up to 20 so far if you count Porter out of this class. I don't see us with 25 at the end but I am sure we will take commits over that 20 because we may lose commits, have more attrition, maybe someone other than PP has a strong year and leaves for the NFL early, and/or have some non-qualifiers. Don't really see an issue there because it is standard procedure. Maybe your issue is with the attrition this year but that is normal given some 3 or 4 of those guys are on medical hardship waivers and the others sought playing time elsewhere.
No, they are over and not just a little over... they are way over. Sorry, very bad business, you think that article is bad... what till you see next years when they sign 20-25 for 2011.
No sense pointing fingers at a specific coach, as they all do it, and most sign quite a bit more than Miles does. It's just a way for people to keep trying to bash Miles. Instead the subject should be over signing in general. And most of it is to backstop attrition. Many kids seem to understand this and roll with it. The ones that don't want to wait go somewhere else. One thing I think would reduce this would be allowing kids to have an early signing period. But I have gotten the impression the SEC is not even considering this.
This is a none story except to those who wish to keep finding reasons why Miles should be bounced. What it indicates to me as that some of the haters are afraid we might actually have a good season, so they are looking for another avenue to bash him since poor coaching want hold any water should we end up with a 10+ win season.
The average is about 5 or 6 so it is a little over but really it depends on the situation. 3 or 4 medical hardships is a lot higher than average which is a reason we are slightly over the average. The others thought they had a better shot at playing time elsewhere so I can't blame them. No one will have an issue with over signing because it happens every year with most programs. If we sign 20 as it stands now it will not be over signed and will likely be the case if we sign 23 because we can make the numbers work with greyshirts, sign and places, walk-ons, attrition, early entry to the draft, non-qualifiers, etc... You will find that people only have issues when the prospect entertains other options because of the greyshirt offer and 98% of the time the prospect accepts the offer = non-issue. No one said a word when Holliday, Coleman, etc... did the same. Always a perception vs reality issue.
Gregg Doyel told me that he once saw Les Miles literally pull the ears off a newborn puppy. Literally. That's a very angry article. I can't help but think there's other things that the author hates Les Miles for, and it's bleeding over into this article. Maybe Miles beat him up when he was a kid.
it almost read as satire. Im still not sure if it was tongue in cheek or not since its so over the top. then again he is a UF alum so thats pretty lame he conveniently omitted Urban Cryer.
Re: "Les Miles is a bad guy" (link added) Yea you rite !! The change they need to make is to let teams sign 25 student athletes/year and change the 85 limit to a full 100. Why in the world do they have the limit at 85 in the first place? If they were really concerned about the "student" part of student athletes, they'd allow more students to keep their scholarships...and not force bad guys like Miles to cut players to reach the arbitrary 85. Another change the NCAA should make, if they were really concerned with the students is make the scholarships good for four years and not one year renewables. That way, any kid who's injured is guaranteed his 4 years. and if he falls short academically, only then does he lose his scholarship. :thumb:.
Absolutely not. He's what we'd call a troll around here. Check out his Bio: If I didn't know better I'd say it was TC..
