i'm sure that had they had the conflicts we had, they would have lost more than twice... hell, they lost twice with no conflicts...
I'm not a Les Miles "hater", but I have voiced displeasure throughout the season. I'm not going to totally change my tune, either. I will say this bowl game redeemed our season. It made 12 lackluster games simply a slow and tough prelude to our eventual coming out party against the 'Canes. I'm not ready to completely buy stock in Miles, but I've said before and I will reiterate, Les Miles may turn out to be one of LSU's greatest coaches. This win has bought us back some national credibility; I believe it was weening with our unimpressive performances this season. By fate, we were able to see what our offense is capable of. Matt Flynn was able to do things we all believed this offense is capable of. I almost completely appologize to Jimbo Fisher, it seems our offense isn't totally lame. I'm worried about our team discipline, but Miles won us this bowl game, one of the biggest games for our program in a while. For it, I can forgive him this season, especially considering our win-loss record. Good luck Miles, I wish you great success at LSU. I'm happy for your big win tonight.
At least you admit it. I want all of the Miles bashers to apologize for their bashing. Im tired of defending the poor guy, even from my friends. He just won 11 FRIKEN GAMES, 11! Give the props and jump back on the bandwagon.:geauxtige
Going 11-2 is nice; dominating a worthy opponent is excellent, even if we only dominated one worthy opponent.
People keep saying how this team "underachieved" or were unhappy because they didn't blow teams out like they did the U last night. I'l be the first to say that during the season and in the moment of the games, I was one of them. But in retrospect, when one steps back and takes a look at the adversity this team and staff had to endure throughout the season, it's a wonder they did as well as they did. The hurricanes and their effects have been mentioned to death but what I think is equally important is the new coaching staff and the injuries to key players, especially on the offensive side of the ball. The running game began to suffer when Will Arnold went out and then we also lost Brett Helms. When the running game went down, then opponents were able to stack the box and force JR to pass and the receivers penchant for dropping balls in key situations didn't help. Plus JR was playing with an injured wrist. And the injury to Addai didn't help either. All of this contributed to limit Jimbo in what he could do with the offense. As has been stated before, I think Miles at first (and other members of his staff unfamiliar with LSU and the SEC) were in awe of their surroundings and took some time to get used to it. I don't think they were ready for the passion and intenstiy of LSU and SEC football! My personal opinion of the overall job Les, his staff and the team did were outstanding given the aforementioned circumstances and the game last night only showed what might have been had those circumstances been normal. While it is too early to make a definite statement on the future, based on the results of this season and the way recruiting is shaping up, I'd say we were in pretty good hands! :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
