what a cop out of a reply, its all the democrats fault, but the republican governor wont veto it.
How about its greed on both sides on this one. I work up at the capital and I think it is a bunch of crap, especially when you see some of the stuff that goes on during session. Of course, they work so hard during session that they take every Friday off and then it becomes big buzz when something important gets tabled because session is closing. Hmmm... But this is just pure greed on both sides of the isle and nobody should be taking shots at the other side on this one. There is plenty of cannon fodder on other issues to fire at each other without trying to blame the greed of the legislature on the other party.
It's politics as usual. He's not vetoing this because he's got their word to pass some other legislation that's on his republican agenda. He didn't want them to retaliate against his bills, So much for political courage . . .
That is disappointing; I'm still hoping Jindal will do good, but this isn't a positive sign. Maybe he's just playing the game right now.
Yeah Jindal sucks but the democrat that is responsible for creating the bill along with the 15 dems (only 4 republicans) that voted for it don't.:dis:
If under Blanco a republican had created the bill and 15 republicans voted for it to only 5 democrats I would have been "squalling" but it would have been directed at the republican party and not Blanco. The fact is the bill was created by a democrat and is being supported by democrats by a 3 to 1 margin. I don't think the situation requires me to pass it off on anyone. The facts are the facts.
He basically admitted that in reference to this particular bill. I think this sets a very bad precedent. 'Hey Gov, give us what we want and we'll go along with your agenda.' That's really sad. He is literally buying their compliance. There is something very fundamentally wrong with that. As I implied in my previous post, it makes no sense to put the fox in charge of the hen house. Issues like legislator pay should be resolved by an independent body. I'd suggest a public election, but that probably wouldn't work either.
Then give us some facts, instead of opinions. Where do you get this 3 to 1 margin number? According to the Advocate, The committee vote for the pay raise was 8 Republicans and 5 democrats. The votes against were 1 republican, 2 democrats, and 1 independent. Where is the 3-to-1 margin?
