Agreed. I've heard the liberal bias accusation many times, but am yet to witness it first-hand...at least to the degree that some would have you believe. I find that they do an excellent job of presenting all sides of an argument. They don't attempt to discredit anyone on either side of the argument, and they don't seem to be pushing an agenda one way or the other. And Fox News disciples, please don't tell me that they presents both sides of an argument. When they have someone on who doesn't agree with the host, that person's right to speak is often disrespected and they are treated very unfairly. Look no further than diminutive Alan Colmes trying to get a word in edgewise with that loudmouth. Agreed again. I find it to be a tidy presentation of the facts, and lacking in arrogant blow-hards trying to impose their views on the listeners. Whereas most media tends to be very 'in-your-face' about things, NPR is very subtle and thus, much more listenable.
How do you figure? I assume you're talking about Limbaugh, Hannity, Levine, etc, since you said GOP. But none of those guys advocate taking away anyone's right to free speech, or freedom of religion, or the right to bear arms, or ethnic cleansing, or control of the masses through heavy-handed use of the military. They advocate a representative republic (definition: a state or country that is not led by a hereditary monarch, but in which the people have impact on its government) guided by conservative principles and rooted in freedom, self-determination and capitalism.
my statement was a hyperbole. the talk shows (nearly all right-wing) are helping to create a more ignorant and obtuse country. it really is propaganda. just not created by the govt (well, mostly not).
A Pew Research Center study partially contradicts you. They found, "the most informed audiences belong to the political magazines, Rush Limbaugh's radio show, the O'Reilly Factor, news magazines, and online news sources." Limbaugh's audience outscored listeners of other talk radio sources (left-or-right wing), viewers of CNN, The Daily Show, NewsHour, Larry King, FoxNews and C-SPAN. Talk radio in general scored well above the national average; viewers of MSNBC (fans of Chris "Obama sends tingles down my leg" Matthews and Keith Olbermann) scored below. http://people-press.org/report/?pageid=1068
Fox News is the most objective news network. They present both sides of issues by having guests covering all perspectives on their programs. Except for O'Reilly's "Patriot/Pinhead" segment, I have not heard Fox personnel getting involved in name calling.
