lee is young and he is a tiger, but he still lacks coaching whoever is to blame, him or Miles.

Cutcliff was a poor coach but a great QB coach. so what's the point? The staff is handling Lee poorly. I see alot of fans that just say well Miles did it so it must be right. Well ok But no one is infallable. I ALWAYS support whoever is in there. But JJ could have gotten more reps and needs them ESPECIALLY in this situation.

there are two schools of thought here. Keep LEE in and let him and team suffer some growing pains based on what we as a coaching staff see in practice or

Give JJ more reps and see who performs best under pressure and play the guy with the hot hand.

Beckwith made mistakes and he pulled him.

If nothing else he should pull him just to talk to him and calm him down when he makes HUGE blunders

Crowton should be WORKING HARD on gettin a game plan together that lets Lee thrwo outside where he does better. Slants across the middle just aint getting it done. pick 6

Also the running game is dynomite all you people who say they will stack the box GUESS what they DO STACK the box and WE STILL GET YARDAGE

the running game has enough different horses to:
    1. push the other team off the ball, remember WE ALSO HAVE 11 PLAYERS :dis: WHEN the recievers block and we pull stunts like the guard pulling our RB's RIP YARDS. ( see a replay dont belive me) SO WHY do we get away from this and get cutsey with passing slants and high percentage INT's ?
    2. We have a stable of backs and JJ could possible run the option as good or better than HAtch. JJ Not knowing the playbook? :dis: It doesnt take a genius to run the option. It works and has worked. this year.

    3. I have a bigger beef with Crowton and Miles than LEe. yes he is young but they arent helping him at all.
They act like its marino in there ..........then when he screws up they shut the WHOLE offense down and call medicore running plays. THATS why we had so few yards the second half, not because of Bama. Ray Charles could see that. The running game was diverse the first half and it was PREDICTABLE the second half.
Stacking the box is one of the POOREST excuses in the world as to why some team cant run the football. People there are 11 players on BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. Recievers can block, you can run stunts pull guards, end arounds, sweeps, options the list goes on and on and on and on. if you can BLOCK YOU CAN RUN LOOK AT HIGH SCHOOL BALL .

Yes Lee should sit a series or two out. Just to get his head right. EVERY OTHER COACH IN THE NATION HAS DONE THIS. UNLESS JJ IS JUST A TOTAL MORON which icant believe then these is NO EXCUSE. Miles might be a great head coach but like said before this isnt rocket science and if as a fan you put that MUCH faith in a coach then you're daft. You just give up your common sense and say OH he is the coach he must know more than anyone else and throw that in the face of the obvious. it makes people look stupid namely YOU.

Finally Saban fan you said in a couple years you'll have fun with this post? In a couple years brother Lee might be the best thing since sliced bread, time will have passed and hopefully he has matured. BUT this is the HERE AND NOW.

This is all coaching. And yes we probably are missing Perriloux but we STILL COULD be having a one loss season IMHO if Lee was handled correctly.

I am no Miles but thats just my opionin. it also happens to be right as always LOL :hihi:

If you consider sticking up for a kid that has tons of upside and is giving it his all each and every day being an "apologist", then I guess I'm guilty.

If he was a junior or senior I'd me more critical...but he's not. He's a stinking red shirt freshman that received no measurable practice until this last spring.

He's the best we have right now and he's doing a better job than 100% of us could do.

I said to my dad and to a couple of friends, while leaving the game, that I would not stick up for the guy anymore...but I just can not sit back and allow the type of criticism that's being thrown his way to take place without saying something in his defense.

Please excuse those of us that are putting being a Tiger Fan above being self centered arm chair quarterbacks. I stopped following pro football because of all the crap associated with it...crap like constantly criticizing every player and coach. Lee's a student athlete giving it his all and we, as fans of LSU, should be less critical and more supportive of him. Notice I didn't say we couldn't criticize but statements like.."I'm never watching a game again while he's the QB" and "Lee just flat out sucks" are unacceptable.

In addition...I trust Coach Miles to put us in the best position each week to win the game. Our best came up a little short against Alabama. We'll get 'em next year. Be proud of how hard our guys fight and the class they show on and off the field. Geaux Tigers!

    Direct quote from DandyDon column-

"I am also upset with LSU's play calling against Alabama. On several occasions LSU would pick up five or six yards on first down throwing the football and have a very workable situation to pick up a first down on second and third downs and then would get cute and run plays that resulted in minus yardage. A prime example was the start of overtime. Charles Scott picks up six yards on first down and on second down Richard Murphy takes the direct snap and loses four yards leaving LSU with a third and nine. On third down, instead of throwing a pass route designed to pick up 10 yards, Lee throws into double coverage in the end zone and the pass was intercepted. Lee finished the game completing 13 of 34 passes."

I don't always agree with DandyDon when I actually read him but after the Alabama game I was reading everything. He hit the nail on the head here,
and this is not the only time this has happened. It's looks to me like all plays are called from the bench with no input from Lee. Lee come to the sideline and stands there. He should be on the headphones to Crowton upstairs talking about what the defense is doing, suggestions for plays to call etc, and then let Lee call the plays. Lee played a poor game for sure but Crowton should be taking some of the heat instead of letting his 19 yo. QB take it all.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

The same people that were on here bashing Jimbo Fisher for conservatism in 2006 are bashing GC for being too balanced.

You know what, I understand what you are saying. I agree, Im still a Tiger, still wore my hat to the grocery store Sunday, still flew my LSU flag yesterday. That wont change. If you were implying that im of one of those who is not proud to be a tiger? I have criticized this kid and rightfully so. I wont apologize for that. Yes he is a redshirt freshman and he is making mistakes. My problem with the guy is, he isnt getting better and thats not good for his future. If he ends the season like he started it, the QB spot should be open competition in the spring. Miles should have gave JJ a look yesterday, just to run the option or change the dynamic of Sabans defense.

If you are guilty of being an apologist thats fine, I havent gone off the deep edge like some here. But being an apologist doesnt mean people have to disregard reality. We ran the ball with success in the first half, right! Saban said ok, i'll stack the box and put it on Lees shoulders, he was counting on that. Miles didnt do much to counter it. Our defense gave us a chance to win this game, after all the blame that has been put on the defense this season, rightfully so.

In the end, I just had a conversation with a friend of mine. My final reaction to this season is on the immature shoulders of RP. If I could say one thing to him right now, it would be phuck you RP.

I'll admit and Lee will admit that he didn't play well. But to argue that there is no question that Jefferson should have played is wrong, IMO. I think not playing Jefferson against a Nick Saban D is very defendable, especially considering that we were in the game the whole time with Lee at the helm. I'd like to see Jefferson play, and I think Miles probably should have played him more against Tulane, but putting in an untested freshman against Bama is far from a slam dunk decision.

Lee played poorly, so you really expect our highly touted receivers to make the most out of the few good passes Lee does throw. We expect more out of our receivers than x number of dropped passes. x=5,6? WR wasn't supposed to be a weakness.

Yep, but I'll say again that Bama is probably closer to Auburn's offense than Florida's, so don't get too complimentary.

He doesn't have much to work with. We can't turn into a straight running team; we will be stopped if we decide to stop throwing the ball.

I don't think so. Obviously we disagree. Let's see how the rest of the season plays out.

Sorry, but it's you. You've been a member for 2 years and it takes some bimbo on a plane to prompt you to post? My wife, who knows nothing about football, said your post was dumb.

Not apologists, just pragmatists. It is what it is. The coaches are doing what they can with what they have. Sometimes fans have to suck it up and endure a rough stretch. Everybody wants to point fingers and find someone to burn at the stake because we are not in the running for a championship. I just don't understand all of the negative energy. Our problem is fairly obvious and the lack of an immediate fix is equally obvious. My advice is to settle down and ride this thing out.

I've actually sat and read this entire thread, and here is what I think about our QB situation.

Last spring, when RP was finally kicked off of the team, most of us here tried to downplay the significance and said we only needed a QB who didn't lose games for us. Well, that's true. Lee almost single-handedly lost the Alabama game for us, and it can be argued that he had a strong hand in the UGA loss.

But didn't we really know this was going to happen when RP fulfilled his destiny and was kicked off the team? Yes, I think we did. We knew we had zero experience @ QB, and when Clair posted on here during the summer that Hatch was winning the starting job because Lee wasn't ready, didn't all of us know then that we were in for a long season?

I don't think we wanted to admit it, but I had a sinking feeling each time. Then, our defense has come out and been a disappointment, too. But LSU's era of dominance is not over; we've merely hit a speed bump.

I know I assumed that we had a passable QB behind Ryan and did not panic. We got a little spoiled there with the run of Mauck, Russell, and Flynn. Sure there were problems with each of them but we never had to go through the on field development of a QB. I forgot how painful that can be.
