I rode out Andrew in Baton Rouge and I will this one, too. I had a limb knock out a couple of windows in Andrew and if I hadn't been there I would have lost some valuable possessions to water damage and/or theft. So I will stick around to protect my property this far north on high ground. But anyone in the coastal zone or in a river bottom in Louisiana should find some higher ground. Right now, it ain't worth a life. North of I-10, most of us are not risking our lives to stay. Of course I'm only 500 yards north of I-10 . . .
i do have an appt, and i still left... last night actually... houston is a nice place... lots of rockets stuff over here! hahah
My sister in law from New Orleans arrived in Houston this morning, will stay with us till she can go back. Mom and sister in Lafayette will get together to ride it out. I hope it loses some punch before landfall. Good luck to all staying in La.
I have been watching - or listening to - the WWL feed while in my office this afternoon. Pretty scarey. Ray Nagin's last interview left me speechless for a while. I have the feeling it will be several days before we know how our house is if this thing is as bad as the worst case scenerio forcasts.
