Chavis is coming in so late he may not agree with our evaluation, but it would be a little late to change our strategy now. For instance, he may have liked another LB better that we didn't recruit hard, but is now a verbal to another school. I'm not saying this is true, just that we can't lay too much credit or blame on him for this year's class because it wouldn't be fair.

just got back from the sportsman paradise bowl and tahj looked great. still needs to put on some pounds but boy can he run and that's what we need -- speed, not necessarily size.

apparently the only reason he's not a commit is grades. lsu wants him, he wants to be a tiger but he's a point of the act and a couple points off gpa.

i hope he gets that stuff in order because damn he's good.

I heard he looked really fast and had a great day.

He will be in this class if he qualifies and it looks promising right now. Greyshirt could be an option as well.

They would prefer he not get it, he may not have much of a choice in the end.

Let's put it this way, if he ends up being the 27th commit, he stands a great chance at being a greyshirt. It would help is cause immensely if we totally strike out on getting another DE, which could happen, but not likely.

We have a slot open to place someone back to the 08 class (Benton most likely), and so that would put Jones as the 26th commit to count towards 09.

The total to get to 85 seems to be the bigger issue than figuring out how we get it down to 25.

But he has a choice of whether he signs with LSU. He could chose to go straight into school by signing elsewhere (Ole Miss).

IMO, we're high enough on him that if he isn't willing to do a grayshirt we will take him any way we can get him.

Well then you're possibly faced with telling another recruit he will have to take a grayshirt if TJones ends up being the 26th commit in this class (and that's counting Benton backwards to '08 on top of that).

That seems like a crappy situation to be in.

According to Tahj's coach, he is now academically eligible. I'm not sure if he means he is eligible, or he now projects to be eligible. I am doubting that he's already fully eligible.

But there are other players that could grayshirt.

I don't see many options, if any at all.
