Not really. It was suposed to pass fire codes and be capable of seating people for the 2005 season. It has always been understood that much interior and exterior work remained to be completed after the season.
Exactly, I don't care what the sign says, the LSU guys said repeatedly it would not be finished until this fall about a hundred times. And as someone who follows the Tigers so closely I really thought you would have seen it at least of those times CParso. By the way, I think the problem with the pressbox you are talking about may have something to do with the fact that LSU now has to add a replay both that was not incorporated into the original design, since the SEC has adopted it permanently.
CParso, I think it is funny you are willing to give Miles a pass because of Katrina, but not the construction company. Not that I disagree with you... I wonder if these guys are losing money now - contracts usually have penalties if a project is finished late. If penalties are being administered by LSU on the contractor, I imagine the contractor may be dragging their feet and looking for wiggle room. In that regard, they benefit from the hurricane and the change in plans by the NCAA as far as the replay booth goes. Any other excessive changes only benefit the company, especially they are being assessed fines instead of pay days. That is part of the construction game.
Miles hardly needs a "pass" considering he won 11 games, including a huge Peach Bowl victory over Miami. I'm understanding of the fact that the project would need some cosmetic things still done after Sept 05. I know that a lack of employees delayed the project. I realize that there are always unforseen events with construction projects that makes things take longer. What upsets me is that Yates is using the hurricane as an excuse (past what should be warranted), and the large & expensive mistakes I've heard about.
I think using the two hurricanes as an excuse is BS. I know it severely affected areas around BR, but Baton Rouge basically got two large rainstorms.
So you don't think the contractor had a problem with logistics, material delays and shortage of workers even though every other construction job in S. Louisiana and the gulf coast area just about was adversely effected by these things? And the fans still have had only a tiny amount of impact from any of the delays, which were minimal. And this is all in addition to this being one of the hardest expansion jobs ever attempted that most construction companies did not even want to attempt. I really don't know what the bitching is all about.
