I would argue that LSU took off to BETTER places in that span of time than OU and USC. We've won a BCS title, and we're currently in the top 10 (a good feat for mid-November of any season). OU and USC are bottom feeders this season, so just flip-flop our '08, and you have their '09.
Miles is a good coach, when somethings not working, like last years def. Good coaches make changes in a hurry. Tubby's greatest asset as a coach wasn't X's and O's, but the ability to select top notch coordinators. If he doesn't start doubting his offensive philosophy, he's still making trouble for us. In short, this is a better LSU team than last year. Miles stays with what he knows. (nothing cryptic there folks) But I knew you would be relieved. Saban finally got the dreaded back to back 10 win season monkey off his back.
Good for Nick. Now if he can just bring home a trophy for Alabama he can lay that "has been" ghost to rest . . . :yelwink2:
LSU has been tough, but even with Bama's overall success, there are teams that stand out as special. My perspective oviously is somewhat distant, but LSU teams up to your last championship just hit that scary mode. But to be absolutly honest the 2007 was too inconsistent to go down as really special. When talent, speed, and coaching creates a product that looks diff. on the field than what you normally see. That's the LSU comparison I was making. Not all 10 and 0 teams look the same. Not all perform special on the big stage.
can't really agree about the 07 team. They had a couple of brain lapses with the coaches, but were easily the best team in the country. Hell we did everything we could to give Bama a win that year, and Bama couldn't get it done.
Yes, maybe this will be Bama's year to finally do something. Florida doesn't look that good right now. Maybe you can win the SEC. How many years has it been? And if you do, we fully expect the MNC.
You mean the one that went 6 and 6. Your 2003 team wasn't nearly as generous (27-3 T-Town). Didn't feel that close. A good defense lawyer could rest his case of that stat. alone.
matt mauck didn't throw 3 picks in the first half in 03 either. Flynn did, plus Arenas returned a punt for a touchdown.
OK, so you like the 2007 team more so than 2003? Personally, I'm glad neither one has showed up the last two years.
