I saw a sig line today on another site that read, "Lane Kiffin is like Miley Cirus- no talent but people pay to see him". Not saying it's true, just found it funny.

You should find a different group of people to watch football with. :)

Both certainly know how to get a rise out of people. Those who get a "rise" out of Cirus...eessshhh.

Good come back gump. Way to refute my statement. I guess you didn't have enough time. Had to get back under Saban's desk. You know how angry he can get.

That's a different "talent" but I bet she is very entertaining in that department. IWHI.

So, just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.

You've gone to the point of saying a few things in this thread about my opinion on Town. I've replied to those assertions—you've ignored those replies.

And now you're asking where is the refutation to your statements? They're included in this thread. You've chose to a) ignore them or b) you're left with no response because you realize you're wrong.

    Which is it, dane?

Let me briefly recap my view for you.

I don't see the loss of Town as newsworthy. I don't see it as a huge loss because of more than one factor.

    • He wouldn't have seen the playing field until 2016.
    • He's a recruit for a class a year from now—300+ days more than your comparison to the losses on the 5 for 5 hype.
    • I have stated Town looks to have all the necessary tools.
    • I don't put a lot of faith in ratings and evaluations on quarterback recruits. You never can tell how they'll adjust to the collegiate game.

If there is any fan base that should agree with that last point it's the LSU fan base. Why?

What player is continually blamed for the loss in the last BCSNC game LSU appeared? Where was he ranked coming out of high school? How high were Tiger fans on what he'd be able to contribute?

These are the facts of the matter as documented in this thread.

Your response, "Good come back gump?" Judging by what you've posted in this thread I'm led to believe your ability to have a conversation on this is hampered by a hubristic mentality.

Dominick Jackson? Come on now....he's a JUCO xfer from San Francisco. I don't think the visit to SoCal had anything to do with him or Mama. If he's a potential academic non-qualifier out of a JUCO, what is a visit from a HC going to change?

Futile effort. TP is a Bama homer who will cling to any excuse that makes sense to him regarding whatever goings on are happening w/Saban and Bama. On the one hand, Bama is great, they have the #1 recruiting class based on subjective services rankings of the players. On the other hand, it doesn't matter that a 5* QB recruit has retracted his commitment to Bama "360 days from now" b/c those ratings don't matter, aren't a good assessment, and he wasn't the right fit anyway. On the one hand, Lane Kiffin is a slime bag douche and has not done much to prove himself except for one good year as an OC in 2006 (5?), had mediocre results as a HC, and has deserved his fate. On the other hand, now that he is at Bama, retrospectively, he got a bad rap at Oakland, and really did pretty good at Tennessee for that one year, and was handcuffed at USC w/sanctions and what not; he's just misunderstood. Both sides of the mouth is where the Bama talk comes from, vball, but I'm pretty sure you know this already. Saban was just visiting the JUCO kid, he wasn't trying to save face and beg and plead for Town to come to Bama. No way.

@uscvball No, it's not Dom. How did you jump to that conclusion?

Dom is one of six OL's committed. There's another listed as a DT, but will get a look on the OL.

    Good effort on comparisons here.

One issue, and it's a big one. The points I've made can't be refuted.

I've never said he was visiting a JUCO player. I said he was there visiting Mama, which he was.

I've never said Kiffin got a bad rap at Oakland. I have said he's one of a long list of coaches that didn't do well there before and after Kiffin. I've said to judge him on Oakland, or his results there, isn't an accurate way to assess how he'll do as an offensive coordinator.

Here's a great example of how you can't have it both ways. Cam Cameron was lauded, repeatedly, for what he'd do as an offensive coordinator at LSU. How easy was it to dismiss his 1-15 record in Miami?

I've never said "rankings don't matter." I have said I don't put a lot of faith in evaluations of QB's coming out of high school because so many don't live up to their billing. Facts prove that. You should know this with RP.

I've never said Kiffin was misunderstood.

I've mentioned sanctions at USC and asked why isn't O'Brien, with a similar record and sanctions, considered a failure at Penn State.

You need to stop trying to put words in my mouth. You're failing miserably.
