Oh, you don't have to accept it for me to win it. You don't even have to recognize it, thank goodness.
Socialism is a socio-economic system in which essential industries, social services, property and the distribution of wealth are publicly and cooperatively owned and democratically controlled with a view to equal opportunity and equal benefit for all. [1] Since the ownership and distribution of wealth is controlled by the whole community as a collective, and not individually or by groups of individuals that do not comprise a whole community. Sounds a lot like some obama/clinton spew to me? Just sayin...
Which parts of the Clinton and Obama platforms call for communal ownership or property? Thats kind of the key part of socialism.
Well, no actually. Neither has said one damn thing about public and cooperatively owned industries, social services, properties, or distribution of wealth.
When the democrats talk about the inequalities of wealth, they aren't talking about taking money from the rich and giving it to the poor. That's just a really transparent republican spin. What they are talking about are the current tax laws which are structured so that the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the middle class goes nowhere. The growing gap between the rich and the middle class is a fact and it is a problem. America's success has been built upon a strong middle class, a happy citizenry, and fair play for everyone. Great empires have always ultimately fallen when an elite, ultra-rich upper class became so far removed from the problems and unhappiness of the ordinary citizenry that the national cohesion fell apart.
i know, i know. just pointing out that while i am left on most issues, i acknowledge that all politicians are rich scumbags (or are headed down that road)
This is all real fun, however while I may be the only one on this board who feels this way, I can tell you I'm not the only ONE who feels that way. I hear it every day and not just on the radio. Yeah yeah I know there are a billion people eating with chopsticks in china and that doesn't make them right. However, I do and will continue to think that he is or leans heavily to socialism. And Red, if you have never heard barack talk about income redistibution then you just haven't been listening. I have to go wash my truck now. Check in with you libs later on. :insane:
