You're wearing blinders. Answers? Try results. Clinton worked with a republican Congress, instead of fighting them, and passed welfare reform. He established balanced budgets, reduced the rate of government spending, and posted surpluses, paying down the national debt. He Presided over the strongest economic boom in recent history. He kept Saddam down with an 8-year No-fly zone and bombed Iraq twice to force concessions so that the UN inspectors could destroy all of his WMD's which was done.He tried to kill Bin Ladin twice with missile strikes before 9/11. He conducted a smart, quick, violent airpower war against Serbia who backed down and their leader went to War Crimes trials without a single American casualty. OK, I'm game. Make it a six-pack of Mexican beer and prove your case. I'm willing to bet that the percentages of democrats and republicans on public assistance are roughly the same as the general public in the same areas. I also bet that most people on public assistance do not vote and many have never even registered. Nobody is going after this demographic to win any elections. It's just that one party believes that we're all in this together and the other believes that it's every man for himself.

Do I believe many groups (including women & minorities) have had many obstacles to overcome?...definitely! Do I believe that you've been discriminated against simply because you're female or a minority?...definitely NOT! Why am I supposed to feel guilty when my family (including me) didn't participate in slavery or sufferage nor ever received any favoritism as a result? First of all you dont know what I have been through in the form of discrimination, so please dont offend me with that point as if you do know. Thats ignorant. Like I care if you believe it or not, the fact is it has happened to me, did it make me angry, yes, did I sulk about it and go rob someone, hell no. Learned from the experience and moved on. You should do the same. I've never asked you to feel guilty, you brought that point up. All I did was acknowledge the problems past, present, and future, you can take it and twist it as much as you want. All of those programs you named, Affirmative Action and Desegreation were direct results from racism and discrimination. You thought they just pulled it out of their asses. They didnt sir, slavery happened, racism happens, everytime someone brings up those points, you want to run to excuses like the shyt didnt happen. You can deny the problems all you want to, but the fact is you dont know peoples hearts and the problems still exist to this day. Another point is that I havent benefited from affirmative action my friend. Every comnpany that I have worked for has been a private company in Florida, which is an at will state. So they can hire and fire who they want. Look it up. You dont know if you have benefited from racism or discrimination, neither do I. If you go for a job, which you are qualified for and they call you and say you didnt get the job. The reasons could be, that they had to reach a quota or they could have thought somone else was more personally qualified. Just like myself, it could be someone else was more qualified or they didnt want to hire a black man. Hell I dont know and dont care, I moved on a found other jobs. Also, I never said racism or sexism was exclusive to one group of people, you make that idiotic statement, not me. How do you know what most african americans want? The african americans I know want their kids to have a good education, no matter what part of town it is. Just like whites, hispanics and everything in between. You make these very generalized statements and you dont know what the hell you are talking about. What does OJ have to do with this, I believe he did it. Their were white people and blacks on the jury, it wasnt hung or a mistrial, he got off, thats the result of his lawyer and a bad prosecution. Maybe we should roll everything back to the 20s, 30s, and 40s and you would be just fine. I think you are living in the wrong century.
Okay, your turn to prove your case. Start with Chicago, IL. Look up "driving people to vote in return for cigarettes" and you'll probably have a good lead. "We're all in this together"...you've been watching High School Musical again, huh? Speaking of demographics...of all the groups out there, which is the easiest to predict? white? male? female? Hispanic? rich? poor? educated? Try black...not African-American...but simply black. Why? What have the Democrats done that has made their quality of life any better than it was 10...20...30...40 years ago? Still last in education...last in income...first in incarceration...first in drop out rate...and the list goes on. Even with a Democrat if office, Democrat-controlled Congress, or both...have things gotten better? Obviously not according to Mrs. Obama. I would love to see things get better but I'm not optimistic in today's society. Every failure is someone else's fault. Every shortcoming is a result of some predjudice or bias. Every mistake is because you didn't get a fair chance. Suck it up dammit! I don't know about the every man for himself theory. I give 10+% at church, to numerous charities, belong to several community organizations, and volunteer much of my time. That hardly fits the stereotype you'd like to believe. I tend to believe the "what's in it for me" and the "me, me , me" comes more from the left side of the aisle all though I think there's plenty on both sides guilty of that one.

My answer to that is I think it will continue to decrease and generations come along, but it will never end. As far as racism and discriminations. Benchmarks, quotas, a number, none of that will change the hearts of people, it will help certain groups and inflame the others. So their we agree on something. :thumb:
