They only had one left and Pete just said so. Say the Pats call the timeout with is 2nd and goal on the one. You think they don't run Lynch and burn clock? He even said they were playing for no time left if they didn't make the catch. Again, the Pats would have gotten the ball back with maybe 20 seconds left if they had let them score.
Pete is just making shit up. His arrogance got the best of him. Wilson is a good qb because he is elusive, and he can throw a nice deep ball, he couldn't hold Tom Brady's deflated balls when it comes to the short passing game though. You have 1 timeout. You run lynch with 20 seconds, then if he doesn't get in , call the timeout and you have 2 chances to throw.
OK, I thought they had two left. Still think passing was the wrong move....trying to position the scoring play against the clock is fine, but ultimately, nothing is more important at that point than actually scoring. The let the clock run down...what...inside :30 before they ran the play? They could have handed it to Lynch and burned the last time out if he doesn't score. Throw a low risk fade pattern on third down, its a score or an incompletion, stopping the clock again. Then you go to Lynch again on 4th. The one thing you absolutely don't do is throw the ball in the middle of the field where a defender can get to it.
Hell that time left on the clock wasn't enough for the Pats to go down and score. Their offense was dependent on the short passing game and I don't think the time would have mattered. Like MC said, the most important thing is getting the TD, not running out the clock.
correct. if belichick calls timeout, they run it in with marshsawn. unreal. i was cussing him for not calling a timeout. turns out hes pretty smart. i figured it out after the fact. was a longshot but it paid off.
lafell was +900 to score the first td. bet 100 to win 900. This morning they pointed out that this season, Marshawn Lynch was 1 for 6 from the 1 yard line - he needs a head of steam. Also, NFL teams threw 190 passes from the 1 yard line and had a higher scoring percentage than running from the one. There was also only ONE interception all season and it was last night. NFL guys are all about the numbers and Pete went by what he knows. Again, Belichick forced them into a quick decision with the clock running down.
Hate Seattle and Pete Carrol even more than I did before. Richard Sherman is a punk. Glad the patriots were able to pull the win out. Overall the game was entertaining to watch and exciting at the end. Julian Edelmen got screwed by the superbowl MVP voters though. Tom Brady is one of the best QBs to play the game. And the person who chose Katy Perry for the half time show should shoot themself.
