Carroll bailed out Belichick on his bone headed decision not to use a time out when the ball got down to the one. I thought Les was the only coach who couldn't manage the clock.
It was genius on his part. Forced Petey to panic as all the time was running off of the clock and Seattle had to score 4. He was afraid of getting stuffed and having to use his last time out as well so he went to the pass. Odds of scoring with 28 seconds aren't that great (assuming Seattle scored a td).
Can't buy that. Carroll had 2 time outs in his pocket and 3 opps to score from the 1, with the best power runner of the decade behind his QB. Bill should have called a time out after the first down play to save himself some clock. He got saved by a rookie CB and a coach who managed to out-stupid him in the final minute.
That was about as dumb a play call as you will ever see. At least run it one more time and call the timeout if he doesn't get in. Then you have 2 more downs to throw it. I think Caroll tried to catch the Pats defending the run and it bit him in the ass.
